The Hyannis Harbor Hawks put another win under their belt after defeating the Brewster Whitecaps, 10-2, on Monday night. After this win and the accumulated three-game win streak, Hyannis is the only team left on the Cape without a loss.

The Hawks showed off their timely hitting in this one when they scored a total of five runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning.

Silva started off the inning with a walk and teammate Eric Snow doubled to right field advancing Silva to third. Right fielder Nick Groves singled to right, recording the first RBI of the inning.

Along with Groves, Parker Brosius singled to left field, driving in Eric Snow.

“I’ve been trying to get back in the groove a little bit and I was more on time and seeing the ball better,” Brosius said. “...[We] just have to continue the momentum and keep swinging the bat well.”

Brosius was brilliant offensively, tallying three hits, recording two RBI and a stolen base.

Kane Kepley also walked following Brosius, giving the Hawks runners at first and second. Jon Jon Gazdar made it close on a fielder’s choice, advancing Groves and Brosius.

Wallace Clark and Michael Dattalo were among the notable hitters in Monday's game. Both acquired two hits and two RBI a piece. Combined, they recorded four of the team’s 10 runs.

“We have a lot of guys that know the zone really well and we’re really disciplined. I don’t think we’re chasing a lot right now, which is good,” Clark said. “...[We need to] just keep going with our approach and know that we can do it.”

“I think the team did really good and came up [in] spots with guys on base which helps offensively,” Dattalo said. “...With runners on base, it kind of makes the pitcher think a little bit so there is an advantage to the hitter.”

Nic McCay gave the Hawks a promising start on the mound Monday, allowing only one run, unearned. Through the four innings that he pitched, he had five strikeouts and only allowed three hits.

The first pitcher in relief was California’s Andres Galan. The Whitecaps were scoreless in the three innings Galan pitched; during his time on the mound, only one Whitecap registered a hit.

Blaine Wynk was the last pitcher in relief, and he allowed one run in his two innings.

After the first, the Hawks were held scoreless for three innings before the bats came alive.

“We started off a little bit slow ... offensively we did some really good things. We took some good walks, put some balls in play, capitalized on some of the mistakes that [Brewster] made, and fortunately enough, we came out on top,” head coach Mitch Karraker said. “...Sticking to our approach, no panic and doing what we do without worrying about the result so much [and] staying in the process of things will help us be successful.”

The Hawks have put up serious numbers in the past three games. Combined, they have registered 25 runs and kept their opponents to only five.

The Harbor Hawks will take on the Chatham Anglers back at home on Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m.
