Host A Player
Create a summer to remember.
We love our host families. These dedicated and generous individuals provide a safe home and a family environment to the young men who come to Falmouth during the summer with dreams of making it to the big league. The young men are among the finest collegiate baseball players, coming from colleges and universities across the country, and many go on to have outstanding careers in Major League Baseball.
Hosting a Falmouth Commodores player is a one-of-a-kind experience in which special memories are created and lifelong bonds are formed between the families and the players. See what host families are saying about their “summer sons”.
- Deirdre Banks and Ted Maziarski have hosted 14 players since 2019. Deirdre said, “We enjoy getting to know the players and their families. In addition to baseball, it’s fun introducing them to the Cape. It’s an all-around great experience.”
- Geoff & Kim Morneau have hosted 5 players since 2023. "We absolutely love the energy and fun the players bring to our home. My son can't wait for them to arrive each summer. They have been a wonderful influence for showing him how much dedication and discipline it takes to be successful."
- Pat Barksdale and Steve Irish have hosted 7 players since 2021. Pat said “I enjoy giving the players an opportunity to be seen by scouts. We get to spend time with these elite ballplayer, who are also role models to the children of the families they stay with. It’s great to see the Falmouth community come together at the games over the summer.”
What is required to be a Host Family?
To be a Commodores player host family, you need to provide a bedroom, access to a washer/dryer, and have some food in the refrigerator. (Although most players love to eat with the family if you are cooking!) Host families receive a weekly allowance from the Falmouth Commodores to help cover player expenses. Host families are NOT required to provide transportation to players.
The Commodores are very grateful to the generous host families. Without a summer family for the players to stay with, we could not field a team or bring top-level baseball to Falmouth for the community to enjoy.
