"Our players and their families have become part of our lives. Providing a summer home for our players was an honor, but we received so much more. We now have a large extended family.” - Jennifer & Paul Aries, Host Family 2024
What do the names Travis Bazzana, Charlie Condon, Adley Rutschman, Alec Bohm and David Aardsma have in common? They are among the amazing Falmouth Commodores players who went on to outstanding careers in Major League Baseball. Imagine having one of these players live with your family for all or part of the summer baseball season. It’s an experience that creates lasting memories and life-long bonds for the players and their host families.
The Commodores are one of the ten teams that make up the Cape Cod Baseball League, the premier summer collegiate league in the U.S. If you live or vacation in Falmouth or Mashpee, you are aware of what a thrill it is to attend one of these games and see elite college players in their quest for the dream of playing in the Big Leagues – and many of them end up doing just that.
With the passing of legendary coach Jeff Trundy, it is a new era for the Dores. Our volunteers and new coaching staff, led by field manager Jarrod Saltalamacchia, have been busy gearing up for an exciting season at Guv Fuller Field. The Cape Cod Baseball League teams operate as charitable organizations and depend on community participation and generous donations. We are fortunate to have families willing to share their homes with players for the baseball season. Without our host families’ generosity, we could not help these young men achieve their dreams or bring top-level baseball to the community year after year.
Talk to any host family and you will instantly be affected by the contagious enthusiasm of their experience in hosting their “summer sons”. Becoming a host family is such a rewarding experience that your family, friends and neighbors will also want to become part of the excitement. Players come from all over the country - many have never been to Cape Cod before. They arrive with plenty of enthusiasm, curiosity, and a laser focus on baseball and their careers. You can be a welcoming part of a success story yet to be written. The friendships you make will be heartfelt by the players and the Commodores’ families that get together at the field and at gatherings during the off-season.
Families with young children or grandchildren that choose to host a player have been impressed to have their youngsters witness the discipline and commitment these elite college players maintain in their quest to play here on Cape Cod. They admire the role models the players portray on and off the field.
We invite you to be part of the excitement this summer! If you are interested in hosting a player for the 2025 season, or as long as you can, we’d love to hear from you.
