Avery Johnsen is a graduate of Falmouth High School. Avery has been involved with the Falmouth Commodores for more than 10 years. Between 2012 and 2022, her family has hosted 22 Falmouth Commodores players, and they have stayed in close contact with many of those players. For three seasons, Avery was a Falmouth Commodores bat girl. In the Fall, Avery will be attending Appalachian State University, where she will be playing Division 1 Field Hockey. She looks forward to pursuing a career in dentistry.
Falmouth Commodores Scholarship Recipients
The Falmouth Commodores award two different types of scholarships – the George Creighton Scholarship and the Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award.
George Creighton Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded each year in memory of George Creighton, a long-time volunteer and past president of the Falmouth Commodores. Mr. Creighton was very active in youth sports and baseball in particular. Recipients must be high school seniors who are residents of Falmouth or Mashpee. The scholarships are awarded in recognition of student sports participation, academic achievement, volunteerism and financial need.
Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award
The award will be given annually in honor of Chuck Sturtevant in recognition of his many years of service and dedication to the Falmouth Commodores and the Cape Cod Baseball League. The award is presented to individuals who have been involved with the team as a bat kid, long-term host family member, intern or other significant volunteer. Recipients will be considered regardless of residency.

2024 George Creighton Scholarship Winners
Declan Norris is a graduate of Falmouth High School. Declan was a Falmouth Commodores batboy from 2016 through 2019. In 2018, he was chosen by the Cape Cod Baseball League to serve as an All-Star bat boy. In the fall, Declan will be attending Endicott College, where he plans to study marketing. Declan will also be playing for the Endicott College golf team.
Lucas Kapulka Is a graduate of Falmouth High School. In 2019, Lucas served as a Falmouth Commodores batboy. During that same season, his family was a host family for the Commodores. Lucas continues to stay in touch with several of the players that he met during his season as a bad boy with the team. In the fall, Lucas will attend Roger Williams University, where he will study business administration.
Thomas Ghossen is a graduate of Falmouth High School. For two seasons, Thomas was a Falmouth Commodores batboy and to this day, he continues to enjoy attending many of the Commodores' games. In the fall, Thomas will be attending the University of Tampa, where he looks forward to pursuing a career as a veterinarian
Evan Bostwick is a graduate of Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School. Throughout his youth, Evan has spent his summers attending the Falmouth Commodores Summer Baseball Camp and attending Falmouth Commodores baseball games. In the fall, Evan will be attending Stonehill College as a Health Science Major, with the goal of eventually becoming a Physician Assistant.
Maci Griesbauer is a graduate of Falmouth High School. For several years, Maci’s family has been a host family for Falmouth Commodores players. In the fall, Maci will be attending the University Of Rhode Island where she will be majoring in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and minoring in Business.
Andrew Lang is a graduate of Falmouth High School. For several years, Andrew’s family has been a host family for Falmouth Commodores players. In the fall, Andrew will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he will be majoring in Finance.
