In the Commodores' storied history, the road to the MLB has run through Falmouth year in and year out. The 2026 MLB Draft is just around the corner, and once again, several current and former Commodores are expected to hear their names called during this year's draft.

Each summer, some of the nation's best college baseball players come to the Cape Cod Baseball League to compete against top-level talent. For many players, it's one of the final steps before beginning their professional careers. According to league data, about 27% of current Major League Baseball players have played in the Cape League.

Falmouth has seen great success in sending players to the big leagues. Since 2018, four Commodores players have gone in the top three selections of Round One. Two of those players have gone number one: Orioles Catcher Adley Rutschman in 2019 and Guardians Second Baseman Travis Bazzana in 2023.

The 'Dores have seen more than 20 players selected in each of the last three MLB Drafts, with their highest recent mark reaching 26 selections in the 2023 MLB Draft.

You may remember some recent stars who shined in Falmouth, such as 2025 CCBL MVP Maika Niu from the University of Arkansas, who is projected to be drafted this year.

Some other former 'Dores, such as infielder Jaxon Willits and right-handed pitchers Devin Sheerin and Matt Sauser, are also expected to come off the board in the early rounds of the draft. Zion Rose, an outfielder from the University from Louisville, is currently projected to be the first Commodore off the board, with his probable selection being late in Round One.

This year's draft, as always, will not just feature players from previous Commodores teams. Some members of this year's squad are also ready to hear their names called. Right-Handed pitcher Aidan Keenan from Stanford University and catcher Jimmy Nugent from the University of Louisville are two players who have already departed from Falmouth and are ready to begin their professional careers. Keenan is expected to be selected within the first ten rounds after an impressive performance at the MLB Draft Combine.

The MLB Draft begins with Rounds 1–4 on Saturday, July 11, and concludes with Rounds 5–20 on Sunday, July 12. Picks 1–10 of the first round will air on NBC and Peacock, while picks 11–40 will be televised on MLB Network. The remainder of the draft can be followed on MLB.com, MLB.TV, or MLB+.
