FALMOUTH, Mass. — This week, the Falmouth Commodores stepped off the field and onto the playground, bringing the fun to hundreds of elementary school students in the community. Over the span of two days, players from the Commodores attended field days at Teaticket Elementary School, North Falmouth Elementary School and Morse Pond School, leaving a long line of laughter and memorable moments.
Teaticket Elementary fourth grader Mia couldn’t contain her excitement as she looked back on her favorite part of the field day.
“My favorite part was playing baseball with real players,” she said. “Henry was my favorite because he was really funny and made me laugh.”
The players got active with the students in different traditional field day games, including wiffle ball, pickle, kickball, soccer and even pickup basketball. The events were a great opportunity for the kids to interact with their hometown team they admire.
Tate McKee, a pitcher from Georgia Tech who is playing for the Commodores this summer, reflected on his experience.
“I had a great time playing with the kids, and it reminded me of when I was in lower school looking up to the older kids,” McKee said. “It’s super cool to be the one that they got to look up to.”
As the final bell rang at Morse Pond School, marking the last day of the school year, the excited faces of students and the strong bond shared with the Commodores painted the perfect picture of a community united by the love of the game.
With the Commodores bringing Major League fun to the local schools, it’s safe to say these field days were a home run hit for everyone involved.
