The Braves are coming off back-to-back doubleheader losses to open the weekend, while the Kettleers picked up a big win over Hyannis on Saturday.

Last Time Out - Bourne
Bourne closed out a span of four losses in two days with an extra-inning loss to the Y-D Red Sox. After the Red Sox scored two in the first and extended their lead to 3-0 in the seventh, the Braves’ offense finally showed some fight. CF Matt Bolton (Binghamton) hit his second home run of the doubleheader: a two-run shot to cut the lead to one. The following batter, 3B Austin Hawke (Wake Forest), made it back-to-back home runs with a solo shot of his own to tie the game at 3-3. The contest would go into extras, where Y-D piled on three runs to earn the 6-4 win.
Last Time Out - Cotuit
Still fighting with Wareham for the final playoff spot in the West division, Cotuit picked up a big victory over Hyannis on Saturday. The Kettleers opened the game hot with three runs in the first two innings. From there, it was a back-and-forth contest, with the Harbor Hawks striking in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game. With their season possibly on the line, Cotuit’s offense exploded in the eighth. After Hyannis brought pitcher Tom Mahoney (Northeastern) into the game, the Kettleers put up eight runs, capped off by a three-run home run from Ryan Tyranski (Cincinnati). The Harbor Hawks scored one run in the following frame, but Cotuit escaped with the 15-8 win.

The Braves have not lost to the Kettleers so far this season. After a tie in their opening matchup, Bourne has won each of the last three contests.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Despite the six-game losing streak, Matt Bolton has stepped up as the Braves’ leader on offense. The outfielder has three home runs this week, including long balls in back-to-back games yesterday. Bolton started the year hot for the Braves’ offense, but hit below the Mendoza line in July. After two multi-hit performances yesterday, Bourne will rely on Bolton to help end its losing streak.
Player to Watch - Cotuit
Landon Beaver (UAB) has been a constant for the Kettleers’ offense all season. The outfielder leads his team in total hits (30) and home runs (4) this summer, along with 18 RBI. In Cotuit’s Saturday evening win over Hyannis, Beaver went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two doubles, and two walks. If the Kettleers want a shot at the postseason, they will have to rely on Beaver.
