After rain caused the postponement of each of Bourne’s last two games, the Braves face a gauntlet to wrap up the regular season. Today, the Bravos will play two away games. The first will be a seven-inning contest against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, a makeup of their rained-out game on July 21. First pitch at McKeon Park is set for 1 p.m. ET. Following the conclusion of the first game, the Braves will travel to Wareham for their regularly-scheduled matchup with the Gatemen. This game will be a regular nine-inning contest, and first pitch is set for 7 p.m. ET.

The Braves suffered their second straight loss on Tuesday night, coming at the hands of the Falmouth Commodores. Bourne gave up four runs in each of the first two innings, and found themselves down 10-0 after five frames. From there, the Bravos outscored the Commodores 9-3. Four of those runs came during a ninth inning rally that saw Bourne bring the tying run to the plate with two outs. Eliot Medlock (Quinnipiac) hit a deep fly ball to center, but it fell just short of the wall to end the game.
Last Time Out - Hyannis
The Harbor Hawks took care of business in Tuesday’s matchup with the Cotuit Kettleers. After Cotuit scored the first run of the game in the second, Hyannis responded with five unanswered runs over the next four innings. The Kettleers were able to get one run back in the eighth, but the Harbor Hawks finished the game with a 5-2 win.

Today’s game will be the rubber match between the Braves and Harbor Hawks, whose season series is tied at 2-2. In their most recent matchup last Thursday, Bourne picked up a 6-4 victory over Hyannis at Doran Park.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Josiah Overbeek (Mississippi State) finally showed off his power in Tuesday night’s loss, blasting a three-run home run to right center. Heading into the playoffs, the Braves will be looking for players like Overbeek to step up and fill holes in the offense. In 15 games with Bourne this summer, the rising sophomore is batting .239 with an OPS of .783.
Player to Watch - Hyannis
Taylor Kirk (Fordham) is on a hot streak at the perfect time for the Harbor Hawks. The infielder has hits in each of his last eight games, batting .344 over that span with three stolen bases. If Hyannis wants a chance to secure the top spot in the division, Kirk will need to keep his bat hot Friday afternoon.

The Gatemen come into Friday’s contest clawing for a spot in the Cape Cod Baseball League playoffs. Wareham currently sits as the odd-man out in the West, trailing the Cotuit Kettleers by two points in the standings for the final playoff spot. Before the Gatemen play Bourne on Friday night, they will host the Kettleers in an important intraleague matchup.
The Gatemen’s last game was on Tuesday, when they lost 5-3 to the Chatham Anglers. Wareham’s pitching struggled early on, allowing the Anglers to score three runs through the first two innings. The score stayed 3-0 until the top of the seventh, when a two-out double by RJ Hamilton (Duke) helped the Gatemen tie the game. That momentum didn’t last long, however, as Chatham would score two runs in response an inning later, taking a 5-3 lead that they would carry to the finish.
Player to Watch - Wareham
Connor Cuff (Louisiana) has been a crucial mid-season addition to the Gatemen offense. Since his arrival on July 3, Cuff has played in 15 games and accumulated a .293 batting average and .736 OPS. The infielder also has 8 RBI in that time, the second-most of any Gatemen batter in July.
