On Wednesday, June 24th, the 2026 Falmouth Commodores scholarship recipients were honored during the pre-game ceremony against the Chatham Anglers.

The Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award is given annually in recognition of Sturtevant’s many years of dedication to both the Commodores and the Cape Cod Baseball League. The award is presented to an individual who has been involved with the team as a bat kid, a long-term host family member, an intern, or another significant volunteer. This year's recipient is Josh Matta.

Josh is a graduate of Falmouth High School, a four-year varsity baseball player, winning the Cape and Islands MVP and earning All-Star honors. His family hosted Commodores’ players for six years, and he worked at the youth baseball clinics during that time. Josh will study marketing and sports management at Salve Regina University and pitch for their baseball team.

The George Creighton scholarship is awarded annually in honor of George Creighton, a longtime volunteer and former president of the Falmouth Commodores. Mr. Creighton was very active in youth sports, particularly baseball. The scholarships are awarded in recognition of student sports participation, academic achievement, volunteerism, and financial need. This year, Winsor Fancher, Maia Ledwell, Olivia Arsenault, Avery Oliver, and Connor Oliver were the recipients of the George Creighton Scholarship.

Winsor Fancher is a graduate of Mashpee High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been involved in many extracurricular activities. She participated in competitive dance for 11 years and in soccer for 14 years; in both for all four years of high school. Winsor plans to attend the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, studying marketing and international affairs.

Maia Ledwell is a graduate of Falmouth High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved in numerous extracurricular activities. Maia played varsity tennis and volleyball at FHS, winning many awards. She served as tennis captain for two years, and as volleyball varsity and freshman captain. Maia will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she will major in biomedical engineering.

Olivia Arsenault is a graduate of Falmouth High School. She has served as Captain of the varsity basketball team for four years and was selected as a Cape Cod Times All-Star for the varsity volleyball team. Olivia is the secretary of the National Honor Society, runs her own photography business, and volunteers extensively. She will attend Bates College in the fall, studying biology and environmental science on a pre-veterinary track.

Avery Oliver is a graduate of Falmouth High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has played high school sports, and has been active in volunteering. Avery will attend Stonehill College, studying early childhood education and special education.

Connor Oliver is a graduate of Falmouth High School. He played varsity baseball for three years and was captain his senior year. Connor is a member of the National Honor Society and has been active in extracurricular activities. He plans to attend Merrimack College, where he will study psychology and sports management.

Congratulations to all of the 2026 Falmouth Commodores scholarship recipients!
