Gina Torielli honored as Hero of the Game at Guv Fuller Field for Red Shirt Friday

On Friday night, the Falmouth Commodores paid tribute to Gina Torielli as the Hero of the Game during Red Shirt Friday at Guv Fuller Field. This recognition is part of the Massachusetts State Lottery's Hero of the Game campaign, which honors local military members, first responders and community figures during Cape Cod Baseball League games.

Gina Torielli was appointed as the first administrator and later the Executive Director of Belonging to Each Other (BTEO) in 2020. Under her leadership, she oversees the administration, programs, and strategic direction of the organization. Prior to her work with BTEO, Torielli served on more than 18 nonprofit boards and has dedicated over 40 years to serving vulnerable populations, including battered women, abused children, low-income taxpayers, and people experiencing homelessness. Notably, she was named Volunteer of the Year by the Washtenaw County United Way.

A Falmouth resident, Torielli is actively involved in the community, serving as an elected representative town meeting member and an appointed member of Falmouth’s Affordable Housing Committee. Professionally, she has had a distinguished 30-year career in law. She became the first woman president of a major Michigan

Law firm, Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC, and later served as a tenured professor and Director of the Graduate Tax program at Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Torielli's numerous accolades include being named one of the Top 10 Business Women of the Year by the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and one of Corp! Magazine’s 95 most powerful women in Michigan.

The Cape Cod Baseball League's ‘Hero of the Game’ campaign honors local heroes by bringing them onto the field during the middle of the fourth inning. Each honoree receives a signed baseball, a brief introduction to the fans, and a photo feature on the league's social media platforms.

The Falmouth Commodores have had three very successful ‘Red Shirt Fridays’ this summer, and look forward to more in the coming years.
