The Falmouth Commodores are nothing short of excited as two of their 2017 alumni, Adley Rutschman and Alec Bohm, have been named starters in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. This exciting opportunity honors their outstanding performances in the big leagues so far this season.
Rutschman has earned his second consecutive All-Star nod, following his selection as an American League (AL) reserve in 2023. Rutschman will start at catcher for the AL, having received an impressive 70% of the fan vote in his finals matchup against Royals catcher Salvador Perez. In his third MLB season, Rutschman has been electric at the plate, flexing a .284/.345/.459 slash line with 12 doubles, 16 home runs and 59 RBI in 84 games.
Bohm has been named a starter for the National League (NL). Bohm, who appeared in the All-Star Game during his time with the Commodores in 2017, enters the week with a .296/.346/.487 slash line, 30 doubles, 11 home runs and 70 RBI in 88 games. His performance this season has showcased his hard work to become one of the league’s premier hitters.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see Adley and Alec achieve such high honors,” Falmouth Commodores President Bob Curtis said. “Their hard work and dedication are paying off, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments. From college players to MLB All-Stars, it’s truly a special moment for our organization and our community.”
With Rutschman representing the AL and Bohm the NL, the All-Star Game will feature a friendly rivalry between the former teammates. Their success in MLB highlights the Cape Cod Baseball League’s contribution to developing top-tier talent. The 2024 MLB All-Star Game promises to be an exciting event, with fans eagerly anticipating the showdown between these two exceptional players.
The All-Star Game will be played at Arlington's Globe Life Field on Tuesday (8 p.m. EDT, FOX).
