As you well know, the Falmouth Commodores operates as a non-profit organization, in fact, the Cape Cod Baseball League in its entirety does as well. It’s one of the reasons why our organization and our league are so embedded in the Cape Cod community: We largely rely on the community to help make these magical summers possible.
In regard to the Commodores, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod ranks among the top of the list in terms of sponsorship. Without it, along with the rest of our sponsors and donors, there’s no guarantee the Cape League would be a possibility. So, when we have the opportunity to help give back to the town of Falmouth, the players, interns and everyone involved are more than happy to answer the call.
On Wednesday, July 11 the Commodores sent several players and interns out to two of the Cooperative Bank’s Falmouth branches, both in Teaticket and North Falmouth. Former Oregon State-turned-Cal Poly transfer Laif Palmer and Holy Cross pitcher Jaden Wywoda had the honor of hanging out with the bankers of the Teaticket location, while Mac Stiffler and Robby Porco, both pitchers from West Virginia, manned the North Falmouth branch.
The assistant branch manager of the Teaticket building, Julie Fawkes, called the Cape League “such an integral part of Cape Cod,” and that she’s very proud of the fact that Falmouth has a team she can cheer for, as she recalled growing up in Orleans going to games from a very young age.
With all the Falmouth community does for the Commodores, we try to give back whenever possible, so remember to be on the lookout all summer, you never know when you’ll find a future MLB star helping out around town!
