The Commodores are grateful for the unwavering support of our fans, sponsors, and local partners. As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, this community makes everything we do possible—from helping elite young athletes chase their MLB dreams to bringing top-tier summer baseball to Cape Cod. Giving back to the community that sustains us is at the heart of who we are.

Here are some of the community organizations the Falmouth Commodores have supported this season:

Falmouth Service Center Food Drive - During the opening game on June 13th, the Commodores partnered with the Falmouth Service Center to host a food drive. Fans and volunteers filled 14 bins with food. The food will be used at the Service Center’s food pantry to support neighbors in need.

Katie's Cure - At 34, just three months after the birth of her daughter, Katie DeGregorio Silvestri was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Katie’s Cure was recognized at the June 16th game, with Katie’s daughter throwing out the first pitch. Katie’s family enjoyed the game from the VIP Deck, courtesy of Compassion Care ALS. The Commodores donated $1,500 to Katie’s Cure to help cover Katie’s treatment and family expenses.

Goosey Fund - During the Commodores game on Father’s Day, the Goosey Fund donated $1,000 worth of ice cream to the first 300 people who entered the ballpark. The Goosey Fund was created to celebrate the life of Lauren Mae Fulone and carry on her legacy by encouraging folks to “pass along the kindness.” The donation of free ice cream from the Goosey Fund made many kids (and adults) happy that night.

Earlier in the day, Commodores’ players and interns attended a Baseball Sunday service at Waquoit Congregational Church**.** Reverend Nell Fields' sermon was based on baseball, and everyone enjoyed a cookout after the service.

Scholarship Recognition - During the June 24th pre-game ceremony, Commodores Scholarship Director Dick Wenderoth awarded $7,000 in annual scholarships to six recent graduates of Falmouth High School and Mashpee High School. The recipients were selected based on their involvement with the Commodores, sports participation, academic achievement, volunteerism, and financial need. The 2026 scholarship recipients are:

  • Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award - Josh Matta
  • George Creighton Scholarship - Winsor Fancher, Maia Ledwell, Olivia Arsenault, Avery Oliver, and Connor Oliver

Military Appreciation Night – On July 3rd, the Commodores honored veterans and active-duty military with a special night at the ballpark. Major General Virginia I. Gaglio, Air National Guard Assistant to the Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Several military support organizations had booths set up to provide information about their services: Cape Cod Vets Center, Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center, Heroes in Translation, Home Base, Joe Q Veteran Coffee Break, and the Town of Falmouth Veterans Services. Military personnel received a free 250th-anniversary commemorative coin and other benefits.

Cape Cod Children’s Museum and the Falmouth Library Children’s Room provided opportunities for the Commodores to engage with the youth in our community. Kids enjoyed hearing baseball stories read by the players, playing baseball bingo, singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, and getting their picture taken with Homer.

The Cops & Cars Car Show for Tommy’s Place is the third year that the Commodores have participated in this family event. The Falmouth Police have enjoyed having the players attend and have asked them to run the dunk tank each year. The event raises money for Tommy’s Place, a non-profit that operates year-round magical vacation homes in Falmouth and Centerville for kids fighting cancer.

Another annual tradition that the Commodores participate in are the Falmouth elementary school field days at North Falmouth Elementary School, Mullen Hall Elementary School, Teaticket Elementary School, and Morse Pond Elementary School. The players and interns enjoy these events as much as the students.

In addition to the events listed above, there are several more on-field ceremonies where the Commodores have an opportunity to recognize and promote the valuable work of local community organizations.
