COTUIT, Mass. – When Jarren Advincula first arrived in Cotuit last summer, he had no idea how crucial he would end up being for the Kettleers.

The second he stepped on the field, the former California Golden Bear made an impact. In his first season with the Ketts, Advincula slashed .392/.448/.446.

The Kettleers reached the Western Divisional Championship, where they fell in three games to Bourne.

While he walked away with the league batting title, it was what Advincula built with his teammates off the field that stood out to him the most.

“At the end of the season, saying bye to all the guys that I created relationships with here all summer,” Advincula said of his favorite memory from 2024. “It was a good and sad moment, but more good.”

When he went back to Berkeley in the fall, the offensive power didn’t slow down. In 55 games in the spring, Advincula batted .342 and drove in 33 runs.

When Advincula returned to Lowell Park this year, it was under a new coaching staff, as Loren Hibbs took over the managerial role in February.

For Advincula, the adjustment to the fresh faces, along with the help of some familiar ones, was a breeze.

“Hibbs made it easy. (Assistant coach) Frady made it easy, and all the (coaches) that wanted to help,” he said. “Having the Flahertys behind me made it calm again.”

Another different part of the summer for Advincula: navigating the transfer portal.

Advincula took official visits to Tennessee, Florida State and Georgia Tech. After three stops in a week and a half, he realized just how much he was missing out on and ended the official visit part of the process.

“I’m missing a lot of Cape games,” the second baseman said. “If any other coach wants to see me, they’ll probably see me up here.”

After just three weeks back, Advincula realized the toll the travel had taken on him. The Yellow Jackets want him in Atlanta by August 5 to get acclimated to the new environment. He hasn’t spent enough time with his family before moving across the country.

So, he decided to head back to California. On July 14, he hopped on a flight out of Boston.

Advincula hopes that the Cotuit faithful remember him as the ultimate player and teammate.

“Hopefully, they look back and see that I played hard every day and competed,” he said. “I left it all on the field.”
