FALMOUTH, Mass. ー The West All-Stars defeated the East All-Stars in walk-off fashion, 9-8, during the 2024 Milton CAT All-Star Game at Guv Fuller Field.
Hyannis outfielder Kane Kepley’s (North Carolina) single in the bottom of the ninth inning marked the first walk-off during the All-Star Game in Cape League history. The West has now claimed back-to-back All-Star Game wins.
Bourne outfielder Ethan Conrad (Wake Forest) was named the West MVP. The Brave added an RBI, one hit and scored two runs.
Y-D first baseman Easton Carmichael (Oklahoma) was crowned the East MVP. Carmichael reached base four times, adding one RBI and scoring three runs.
Saturday’s festivities also included the annual Home Run Contest, sponsored by Baseball Cloud.
Y-D's Ethan Petry (South Carolina) battled against Falmouth's Trent Caraway (Oregon State) and Wareham's Nate Earley (Louisville) in the Home Run Contest finals, eventually defeating Earley in a swing-off.
Petry slashed 12 homers, becoming the first Y-D player to win the Home Run Contest since Jason Cooper won back-to-back championships in 2000 and 2001.
Longtime Falmouth manager Jeff Trundy was honored by the Cape League and nine other managers before the game with an honorary bat for more than 30 years of service to the league. Trundy will be inducted into the Cape League Hall of Fame on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Wequassett Resort in Harwich, Mass.
