40 games in just under two months seems extremely daunting; most weeks have five or six games on the schedule. Throughout that sprint–the ups and downs of a changing roster of collegiate ball players–some games create memories and moments that define a season.
Saturday, June 13: @ Cotuit Kettleers (4:30 p.m.)
It’s the Cape Cod League Opening Day, and it's a chance for the Gatemen to get revenge on their Division Series matchup from 2025; Coutuit swept Wareham in a razor-tight playoff series that ended in a walk-off win. The Gatemen ended the regular season three points above the Kettleers but the playoffs, similar to the start of a new season, depends on who can capitalize on that “Clean slate”. Wareham can conquer Lowell Park and send an early message to the rest of the Cape League
Sunday, June 14: vs. Hyannis Harbor Hawks (6:00 p.m.)
After facing Cotuit in the league’s Opening Day, Wareham opens up Spillane Field against Hyannis. While the Harbor Hawks ended 2025 below .500 in the regular season, they made the playoffs in addition to sending four players to the All-Star Game. The Gatemen went 3-2 against the Harbor Hawks last year and this matchup allows for an immediate opportunity to both gain momentum at Spillane and face another West Division opponent out of the gate.
Sunday, June 28: vs. Chatham Anglers (6:00 p.m.)
The Gatemen’s final home matchup of June is their second meeting of the season with the Anglers. While this appears similar to any other Sunday night Cape League matchup, it sets the tone for a July month with 23 games. The A’s finished last in the East Division in 2025, but bolstered their roster with Texas outfielder and SEC Freshman of the Year Anthony Pack Jr among other power conference ballplayers. Who wants to head into the longest month of the CCBL with some serious momentum?
Saturday, July 4: @ Bourne Braves (6:00 p.m.)
The Gatemen celebrate America’s 250th birthday by facing the reigning CCBL champions. Bourne also won the West Division last season, but Wareham ended the year just two points behind good for a second place finish. The Gatemen will have to face eight returners from Bourne’s championship squad. Fans will be treated to fireworks over the Doran Park sky at the conclusion of this high-stakes division showdown.
Tuesday, July 14: vs. Orleans Firebirds (6:00 p.m.)
Mid-July brings the “Dog days” of the Cape League season; teams are separated by single-digit points in the standings, trying to leapfrog one another to position themselves for playoff seeding. Every divisional matchup, deservedly so given the current postseason format, is crucial. However, the cross-divisional games fall under the radar. Wareham faces Orleans, the CCBL’s best regular season team from last season, at Spillane to pick up points but also display West Division dominance.
Monday, July 20: vs. Harwich Mariners (6:00 p.m.)
Just two days after Wareham’s top players head to Harwich's Whitehouse Field for the All-Star Game, The Gatemen and Mariners face off at Spillane. Wareham split the season series with Harwich at two games a piece last year; this late-season matchup will be the final of four against another hopeful champion who finished second in their division in 2025. Similar to MLB’s post-All-Star break sprint, the Gatemen will have just 12 games to fortify their playoff resume.
Sunday, August 2: vs. Hyannis Harbor Hawks (6:00 p.m.)
Wareham’s regular season at Spillane Field ends the same way it started: a matchup against Hyannis. This will be the Gatemen’s last of 40 games, but potentially the start of more August baseball. The CCBL seeding usually comes down to the final day; The West Division’s second and fifth place were separated by just seven points. Wareham needs to be ready to spring through the finish line, and an end-of-year homestand provides the right formula to finish on a high note.
The Gatemen will host and visit all 10 Cape Cod League teams throughout the summer. Visit Wareham’s website to view the full schedule.
