The third edition of the Cape League Power Rankings reveals a league finally taking shape. With the MLB Draft just days away and the All-Star Game on the horizon, the postseason is no longer a distant thought. These rankings weigh recent performance, overall consistency, and true momentum as teams enter the most pivotal stretch of the summer. The biggest question remains: after dominating the first two editions, can anyone finally dethrone the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox?

  1. Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (18-2-1) Previously: 1

The Red Sox have been the team to beat through the first half of the season, and only two teams have managed to do so. Y-D leads the Cape with a .250 batting average and a league-best 2.24 ERA. Being the best on both sides of the ball is a simple recipe for staying on top. Their +77 run differential is still 51 runs better than the next-closest team, leaving little argument for anyone else at No. 1. Tommy Goodin has powered the offense with three home runs and 17 RBIs, while Y-D's pitching has been even better. All 10 of the Red Sox's most-used pitchers own an ERA below 3.00. At the halfway point, Scott Pickler's squad has done everything expected of the Cape's top team. Now they're waiting for someone to challenge them.

  1. Brewster Whitecaps (13-7-1) Previously 3

Brewster has continued to turn heads, climbing to No. 2 and becoming the top contender to challenge Y-D. The Whitecaps are 7-2 in their last nine games and Jamie Shevchik has built a reliable lineup with few holes. Jacob Lee's four home runs lead the offense, while starter Payton Manca has been nearly untouchable, posting a 0.57 ERA through four starts. Strong pitching and a balanced lineup have kept Brewster near the top of the division. The Whitecaps have consistently kept games close with solid pitching and consistent hitting, and if Shevchik's brand of baseball continues, they'll remain one of the Cape's biggest postseason threats.

  1. Harwich Mariners (13-8) Previously 2

Steve Englert's Mariners have been neck and neck with Chatham and Brewster for second place in the East behind Y-D. Harwich ranks second in the league in runs scored, OPS and batting average, while its 73 stolen bases and 33 doubles lead the Cape by a wide margin and fuel one of the league's most dangerous offenses.

Colin Larson and Ty Smolinski have combined for six home runs, 16 stolen bases and 24 walks, playing a major role in Harwich's offensive surge. The Mariners are still searching for more consistency in the rotation.

  1. Bourne Braves (10-8-3) Previously 4

The Braves have won three of the last four Cape League titles, but Scott Landers' squad has struggled to separate itself from the pack so far this season. A few ties are all that separate the Braves from a much more impressive position in the standings. Bourne hasn't shown much home run power, but Andrew Costello has provided a spark, leading the team with a .355 batting average and two home runs. However, the team has just six home runs at the halfway point, last on the Cape. The rotation trio of Will Whelan, Jaden Alba and Brendon Bennett has been key to piling up wins, but it will need veterans like Mark Quatrani to ignite the offense if it wants to make another run at the top.

  1. Chatham Anglers (10-9-2) Previously 5

Chatham has relied on a hot lineup and strong starts from its rotation to stay in the mix. The Anglers sit fourth in the East, but their +17 run differential suggests they're closer to the league's top teams than their record indicates. Connor Shouse, Rob Rispoli and Armani Guzman have consistently gotten on base, but the star-studded lineup hasn't always cashed in those opportunities. On the mound, Oliver Pudvar has posted a 3.05 ERA through 20.2 innings, while Angel Cervantes sports a 0.66 ERA in 13.2 innings. If Chatham's offense and pitching peak at the same time, the Anglers have the talent to climb quickly.
