HYANNIS, Mass. (August 11, 2026) - The Harwich Mariners have won the 2026 Cape Cod Baseball League Championship following their 4-2 win over the Bourne Braves in game three of the Championship Series. This marks the seventh championship for the Mariners (1933, 1983, 1987, 2008, 2011, 2024, 2026) and the fourth title under manager Steve Englert.
JP Peltier, of Wright State, was given the 2026 Star of Stars award, given to the Most Valuable Player of the Cape League Playoffs, presented by Reader’s Hardwood Supply. Peltier earns the honor after recording a .346/.393/.615 slash line with six RBIs, two home runs and a double during the postseason.
Harwich took home the title after finishing third in the East Division with a 21-19 record. They began their Cinderella run as underdogs against the Brewster Whitecaps. The Mariners shut out Brewster 4-0 in game one and came away with a 10th-inning walk-off 6-5 victory, sweeping the series.
The Mariners continued to build their momentum, taking on the regular season champion Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the East Division Finals. After taking game one in a 12-9 shootout, Harwich punched their ticket to the Championship Series with a 7-6 victory and a second consecutive series sweep.
After dropping Game 1 to West Division champion Bourne Braves, the Mariners bounced back to win two straight, completing the gentleman’s sweep and capturing the 2026 Cape Cod League Championship.
