For the second time in three games, the Harwich Mariners ended a game with a tie.

With the score tied 3-3 against the Brewster Whitecaps, clouds started to approach Whitehouse Field in the top of the seventh inning Thursday. The umpires stopped play after lightning was spotted in the distance. Shortly thereafter, they ended the game as rain covered the field.

It is the third tie of the season for the Mariners, as they moved to 7-6-3 on the season, holding third place in the East Division.

Jake Koonin's power surge in the fourth inning saved the Mariners from the loss.

With his team down 3-1 and Kyle Wolff standing on first, Koonin crushed his third home run in five games to tie the game.

On the pitching side, Ryan Reich got his second start for the Mariners. The Whitecaps jumped on the righty from the get-go.

Brewster recorded three hits in the first inning to jump out to a 2-0 lead.

In the third, the Whitecaps loaded the bases with no outs, forcing Reich out of the game. Reliever Matthew Heiberger came into the game, tasked with getting Harwich out of the inning. Outside of a sacrifice fly to score an inherited runner, Heiberger got the Mariners out of the inning down just 3-0. The lefty from Alabama went 4 1/3 innings without allowing another run to score.

The Whitecaps outhit Harwich 6-3.
