Following a loss to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, the Bourne Braves will look to get back into the win column against a struggling Harwich Mariners team. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at Whitehouse Field. The first-place Braves can clinch a playoff berth with a win and a loss by Wareham. The Mariners come into the game on a five-game losing skid.

Last Time Out - Bourne
Coming into their matchup against Hyannis on a three-game win streak, the Braves suffered a letdown performance Thursday night. Bourne’s offense could only come up with one run in their first outing since losing top producer Andrew Costello (South Carolina). Hyannis, despite being held hitless through the first four innings, was able to take advantage of the Braves’ off-day and score in three different innings to pick up the 3-1 win.
Last Time Out - Harwich
Thursday night proved to be another struggle for the Mariners. Harwich fell to the last-place Orleans Firebirds, extending their losing streak to five games. After the Mariners had built a 4-2 lead through six innings, the Firebirds scored four unanswered runs to take a 6-4 lead. Harwich attempted to save themselves in the ninth, but fell a run short in the 6-5 loss.
Previous Matchups
Harwich has gotten the best of Bourne in both of their matchups this summer. The teams haven’t played in nearly a month, with the Mariners’ last victory over the Braves coming on June 27.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Josiah Overbeek is a player that Bourne is going to need to get hot in order to make a deep playoff run. The Braves’ first baseman had two hits in Thursday’s loss, improving his batting average to .278 this season. Despite hitting 17 home runs in his freshman season at Army this past spring, Overbeek has yet to display his power in Bourne. After losing home-run leader Andrew Costello, the Bravos will look to Overbeek for a power bat in the lineup.
Player to Watch - Harwich
One of the Mariners’ best players this summer has been Tyler Smolinski (Kansas State). In 31 games this season, he is hitting .293 with a .914 OPS. Smolinski leads Harwich in almost every major offensive statistical category this summer, including batting average, total hits (34), home runs (6), RBI (17), OPS, extra-base hits (14) and runs scored (23).
