After a rainout gave most of the Cape Cod Baseball League the day off on Tuesday, the Bourne Braves are back in action at home on Wednesday. They will face off against the Cotuit Kettleers, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. ET. On Monday, the Braves secured a 7-2 victory over Orleans while the Kettleers got shut out by Y-D.
Probables
Bourne - RHP Ben Dean (Duke): 12.0 IP, 1.50 ERA
Cotuit - LHP Adam McKelvey (Georgia Tech): 21.0 IP, 3.86 ERA
Last Time Out - Bourne
The Braves’ matchup against Hyannis lasted only one out into the first inning before it was suspended due to nearby lightning and later cancelled due to rain. The game will be made up on July 30 at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out - Cotuit
The Kettleers made it to the bottom of the third inning against Chatham on Tuesday before rain also derailed their game. In that time, the Anglers led 1-0 after scoring a run in the top of the third. That game will also be made up on July 30 and will pick up where the teams left off in the third frame.
Previous Matchups
Wednesday’s game will be the fourth matchup between the Braves and Kettleers this season. So far, Bourne holds the advantage in the series with a 2-0-1 record. The first matchup between the two teams ended in a 3-3 tie before the Bravos won 4-3 in each of the next two games.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Rustan Rigdon has become a staple of the Braves’ lineup in July. After a slow start to the season, Rigdon is batting .319 this month with a .417 on base percentage. Part of his impact on the Braves’ offense has also been his speed. Rigdon has stolen eight bases over 14 games this month, tied for the fourth-most in the CCBL over that span.
Player to Watch - Cotuit
It’d be hard to find a hotter hitter than Noah Coy in the CCBL right now. The Notre Dame product is hitting .448 over nine games in July, posting an absurd 1.164 OPS over that span. Coy also comes into tonight’s game on a 14-game on base streak.
