Last Time Out - Bourne

The Braves picked up where they left off before the ALl-Star break, securing a 7-2 victory over the Orleans Firebirds. Bourne’s offense caught fire early, scoring all seven runs in the first four innings. The top three batters in the Braves’ lineup, SS Blake Schaaf (Wake Forest), CF Rustan Rigdon (Vanderbilt), and LF Andrew Costello (South Carolina) combined to lead the offense with seven hits and five RBI. On defense, Bourne’s pitching staff extinguished the Firebirds. In his second start of the summer, RHP Tyler Baird (Vanderbilt) threw 3.2 innings with eight strikeouts.

Last Time Out - Hyannis

The Harbor Hawks rallied early on Monday to put away the Chatham Anglers. Hyannis had back-to-back three run innings in the second and third, giving them a 6-3 lead after three. From there, the Anglers mustered two runs in a comeback attempt, but eventually fell short. Hyannis ended the game with a 7-5 victory, their second straight win.

The Braves and Harbor Hawks have faced off twice this summer, splitting the season series 1-1. Bourne took the first matchup in convincing fashion, pulling off a 13-3 seven-inning win at McKeon Park. Hyannis responded on the first day of June with an 8-7 win over the Braves at Doran Park.

Player to Watch - Bourne

Rustan Rigdon has become a staple of the Braves’ lineup in July. After a slow start to the season, Rigdon is batting .319 this month with a .417 on base percentage. Part of his impact on the Braves’ offense has also been his speed. Rigdon has stolen eight bases over 14 games this month, tied for the fourth-most in the CCBL over that span.

Player to Watch - Hyannis

One of the Harbor Hawks’ most consistent players is getting hot at the right time. Despite hitting just .207 through 27 games this summer, Caden Miller (UTSA) has been on a tear over the last week. In his last four games, the Hyannis first baseman has reached base in eight of 14 at-bats, boasting a .429 batting average and 1.071 OPS in those games.
