Probables
Bourne - LHP Will Whelan (Minnesota): 8.0 IP, 1.13 ERA
Brewster - Ethan Grim (Virginia Tech): 7.2 IP, 1.17 ERA
Last Time Out - Bourne
Coming off a two-game losing streak, the Braves got back in the win column against Orleans on Monday night. The Firebirds scored their first and only run in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Cal Sefcik launched a two-run home run, his first of the year, to give Bourne a 2-1 advantage. An RBI single from Sefcik in the eighth would give the Braves an insurance run, and they would go on to win 3-1.
Last Time Out - Brewster
In one of the higher-scoring games in the CCBL this summer, the Whitecaps came back late to pick up a 9-8 walk-off win over Chatham. The Anglers were dominant in the game early, with an 8-1 lead after six innings. Brewster started their comeback with a four-run seventh inning to cut the lead to three. The Whitecaps finished their comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Still down three runs, Brewster had their first six batters of the inning reach base. With the bases loaded and still nobody out, Dane Harvey (Ohio State) hit the walk-off single into center field for the 9-8 victory.
Previous Matchups
The season series between the two teams is tied at 1-1. The Whitecaps took the first matchup, 4-3, but the Braves picked up a 6-5 victory over Brewster last Friday.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Cal Sefcik had a rough start to the season for Bourne, but his bat has come alive as of late. The Braves’ outfielder has five hits over his last two games and drove in all three Bourne runs against Orleans. Sefcik returns to Bourne after a 2025 season that saw him bat .400 over 16 games.
Player to Watch - Brewster
Jamie Laskofski (William & Mary) stands out as the best hitter on the Whitecaps’ roster. Over 14 games this summer, Laskofski has racked up 15 hits, good for a .319 batting average. His plate discipline has especially stood out, drawing more walks (7) than strikeouts (5).
