From Falmouth to the MLB Draft

Last summer, Deven Sheerin was on the mound in a Falmouth Commodores uniform. This summer, he looks to have his name called in the MLB Draft. He is expected to join the growing list of both Commodores and Cape Cod Baseball League players that have been drafted. Currently, Sheerin ranks 145th overall in the MLB draft prospect list.

Throughout the summer with the Commodores, Deven showcased his talent against some of the best college baseball players across the country. Some view him as one of the best relief pitchers in the 2026 MLB draft class. His time on the Cape provided the opportunity for him to grow as a player, while also pitching in front of professional scouts from various MLB teams. For his stint with the Commodores, Sheerin pitched in eight games, pitching 12 innings and recording 12 strikeouts.

After he spent the summer with the Commodores, Sheerin returned to Louisiana State University (LSU) for his junior year. The team was a powerhouse that year, winning the 2025 Men’s College World Series. He had been granted a medical red shirt for the 2025 season after a knee injury in the summer of 2024. For LSU, he made 20 appearances and pitched 37 innings over the season, while recording 58 strikeouts. He also finished 8th in the SEC in strikeout percentage, averaging 96.5 mph on his fastball.
