Former Major League player, World Series champion Jarrod Saltalamacchia joins Falmouth Commodores

Falmouth, Mass. - The Falmouth Commodores announced that former MLB player Jarrod Saltalamacchia has joined the organization as field manager (head coach). Saltalamacchia brings a wealth of experience to the role, having played in Major League Baseball for more than a decade and coaching since 2019 for collegiate and high school organizations, including the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL).

Saltalamacchia was drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft in 2003. His career in the Major Leagues spanned from 2007 to 2018. During this time, he contributed to teams that reached the postseason, including a memorable run with the Red Sox in 2013, culminating in a World Series championship. His extensive career includes time with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays, where he displayed skill as a catcher and leadership qualities.

The Falmouth Commodores, are one of 10 teams comprising the CCBL, the nation’s premier collegiate summer league. Twenty-eight Commodores were selected in the 2024 MLB draft and two of the top five first-round picks played for the Commodores in 2023. Saltalamacchia will focus on developing the Commodores’ players' skills while fostering a team-oriented culture emphasizing hard work and dedication. Bob Curtis, Falmouth Commodores president, shares his enthusiasm about Saltalamacchia joining the team, sharing that “his ability to navigate high-pressure situations on the field as a professional athlete will serve as an invaluable resource for the team’s development.”

In addition to his playing experience, Saltalamacchia has also been involved in coaching at various levels. He is currently head baseball coach for The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach, Fla., bench coach for the Bourne Braves of the CCBL and field director for the MLB Combine. He has been involved with recruiting players for Bourne, the 2022 and 2023 CCBL champions. Saltalamacchia has also served as the assistant coach for the CCBL All-Star Game in 2022 and 2023 and the Florida-Georgia States Play showcase in 2019. Curtis added, “his approach to coaching is centered on mentorship; he aims to help players improve their technical abilities and grow as individuals. This holistic approach aligns with the Commodores' mission to develop well-rounded athletes who excel in all aspects of the game.”

Jeff Trundy, legacy coach of the Falmouth Commodores, has been an invaluable part of the team for 20+ years.
