The lawn of Saint Barnabas’s Episcopal Church was buzzing with excitement on Saturday as the Falmouth Commodores baseball team attended the annual Strawberry Festival. The event, which has been a beloved summer tradition since 1951, provided the perfect backdrop for the Commodores to meet and greet the community before their highly anticipated opening game against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
Jack Seppings, a pitcher from Brown University, expressed his excitement for the event. "It's incredible to be here and feel the support from the community. Meeting the fans and enjoying this festival is an awesome way to kick off the season," Seppings said, as he signed autographs and posed for photos with excited fans.
The festival, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., was a delightful celebration of summer, featuring sweet strawberry shortcake topped with piles of fresh whipped cream and strawberries. Visitors also enjoyed classic New England fare, including lobster rolls, grilled hot dogs, and hamburgers. The Commodores indulged in the treats, savoring the local flavors and the great atmosphere.
The presence of the Commodores added a special touch to the events. Fans young and old jumped at the chance to meet their hometown heroes up close. The players, in turn, enjoyed the chance to connect with the community they’ll be representing on the field this summer.
As the festival drew to a close, the excitement for the evening’s game and upcoming season was felt all around. With the support of their fans behind them and the sweet taste of strawberries still lingering, the Falmouth Commodores are ready to take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks and make their mark on the season.
The Strawberry Festival not only celebrated the joys of summer but also highlighted the strong community spirit that makes Falmouth a special place for both residents and visitors alike. As the Commodores head to the Hyannis, they bring with them the warmth and excitement from Falmouth ready to cheer them on to victory.
