After a week of battling, two teams remain in the 2026 Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs, presented by Readers Hardwood Supply: The Bourne Braves and the Harwich Mariners. Each the winner of their respective divisions, the Braves and Mariners will square off on Sunday evening in game one of the CCBL Championship Series. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. ET. The game will be hosted by the Mariners, who gained home-field advantage by having a better regular-season record.

Last Time Out - Bourne
The Braves showed no mercy to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks on Saturday night, collecting a 3-0 shutout win. The victory was powered by Bourne’s pitching staff. Starting pitcher Will Harrigan (Columbia) made the longest outing at Doran Park this summer (6.0 IP) en route to the win. Aiden Stillman (Vanderbilt) followed with two scoreless frames, and Maddox Webb (Mississippi State) slammed the door shut on the Harbor Hawks with a ninth-inning save. On offense, Matt Bolton (Binghamton) delivered an RBI hit in the first.
Last Time Out - Harwich
In their postseason series against Y-D, Harwich proved that all that matters is what you do come playoff time. After losing the regular-season series to the Red Sox, the Mariners took revenge in the East Division Finals with a series sweep. In game two, Harwich faced an early deficit. Y-D came out of the gate strong and built a 4-0 lead through the first three frames. The Mariners had a response, though, scoring runs in the next five innings to take a 7-5 lead. With the game on the line in the ninth, the Red Sox cut the lead to one and loaded the bases with one out, but struck out looking in back-to-back at-bats to end their season.
Previous Matchups
The Mariners took the season series against the Braves, 3-1. Harwich won each of the first two games by three runs, but suffered a 9-3 defeat in the third matchup. The Mariners bounced back in a seven-inning contest just over a week ago, securing a 5-2 victory to clinch the series.
Player to Watch - Bourne
No one on this Braves team knows the championship spotlight better than Ryker Waite (Vanderbilt). The shortstop was a key member of Bourne’s championship run just a year ago, and returned to the Braves this summer to do it again. So far this postseason, Waite is batting .500 with an OPS of 1.397. He enters today’s matchup with a five-game hit streak, and has multi-hit games in three of the Braves’ four games in this year’s playoffs.
Player to Watch - Harwich
While he might have received some help to win the CCBL MVP award when Andrew Costello and Blake Schaaf both left the Cape early, Ty Smolinski has been a threat for Harwich all year. In 37 regular-season games, Smolinski batted .313 with six home runs and nine doubles. Though he’s struggled mightily this postseason, the Mariners’ infielder might have picked up some momentum on Saturday with a two-hit performance that included a game-tying three-run home run.
