Bourne Braves outfielder Chris Stanfield and Falmouth Commodores right-handed pitcher Gage Wood have been named the Cape Cod Baseball League Players of the Week, presented by Del Mar Vacation Rentals, for the week of July 6-11, the league announced Monday.

Stanfield, a 20-year-old outfielder from Louisiana State University, had an outstanding week where he posted a .647/.684/.941 slash line. In five games played, he recorded 11 hits, including two doubles, a home run and six RBI. On top of the hits, he also stole six bases and scored four runs.

Stanfield is now up to 23 hits on the season, good for 13th best in the Cape League. His recent success at the plate has given Bourne some much needed offensive production, and aided the Braves in their three game win streak last week. Stanfield and the Braves will play their next game at home against the Harwich Mariners, Monday at 7 p.m.

Wood, a right-handed pitcher from the University of Arkansas, was dominant in two starts for the Commodores. Across a total of 11 innings, he allowed just one run; during this stretch, Wood posted an ERA of 0.84, a 0.73 WHIP and .132 batting average against. In five innings against the Chatham Anglers, he struck out nine, and in six innings against the Wareham Gatemen, he struck out six.

Wood’s stellar week is just part of the fantastic summer he's having with the Cape League; he sits first in strikeouts with 29 and second in qualified ERA at 1.42. Wood has pitched effectively in all 19 innings through his six appearances; he’s given up only three total runs. Entering his next start, he’ll have a 13.7 K/9. Falmouth will face off with the Chatham Anglers at Guv Fuller Field, Tuesday at 6 p.m.
