Armando Briseño made his third appearance for Y-D on Tuesday night, collecting four hits in the game. He totaled six bases with a pair of singles and a pair of doubles.

“It’s different to come from a different part of the country, but I’m definitely enjoying my time out here,” Briseño said.

The junior from Long Beach State appeared in 42 games in 2025, posting a .279 batting average and hitting six home runs. Briseño spent the past two summers with the Portland Pickles, where he recorded a 1.034 OPS in 2024.

Y-D’s offense has struggled in July, posting a league-worst .554 OPS. Tuesday’s game marked just the third time this month they’ve scored five or more runs. Armando Briseño and Will Gasparino each played key roles in helping Y-D return to the win column, combining for all five RBIs.

Briseño singled in the first inning to keep the line moving, driving in the first run of the game. He doubled down the right-field line in the third, driving in Chris Hacopian to give Y-D a 2-1 lead. He came around to score on the next play, thanks to a single by Gasparino.

While it didn’t drive anyone in, Briseño’s single in the seventh inning moved Hacopian into scoring position, allowing Gasparino to drive him in shortly after.

In the top of the ninth inning, Briseño crushed a fly ball to deep center field. It nearly left the park but still got past the center fielder for a double. The hit drove in A.J. Nessler, who went on to score the winning run in Tuesday’s game.

“I always want to be on time for the fastball,” Briseño said. “I know a lot of these guys throw hard, so trying to see it as best as I can and put a good swing on it is important.”
