SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. 一 The Cape Cod Baseball League is proud to crown the Bourne Braves as the 2025 Cape League champions following their 19-2 victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in Game 2 of the Championship Series. The championship marks the Bourne Braves organization’s fourth title* (2009, 2022, 2023, 2025) and third in the last four years under manager Scott Landers.
Commissioner John Castleberry named Jon LeGrande (St. John's) as the Most Valuable Player of the Cape League playoffs, presented by Reader’s Hardwood Supply.
LeGrande slashed .444/.583/.630/1.213 with five doubles, five RBIs and five stolen bases in eight playoff games.
How they did it
Bourne won the West Division with a regular-season record of 20-18-2. They only led the division for the final two days of the season.
In the Divisional Series against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, the Braves lost Game 1 but bounced back to win the next two and the series.
Bourne faced the Cotuit Kettleers in the West Divisional Finals and won the series, 2-1, taking the deciding Game 3 at Doran Park.
In the Championship Series, the Braves swept the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, 2-0, including a dominant 19-2 victory in the clinching game.
* = In 1936, a Bourne organization won the Cape League championship. The Bourne Braves have no connection to the 1936 Cape League champions.
