Sunday night marked game 19 of 40 in the 2025 Cape Cod Baseball League season. As we reach the halfway point, there’s no better time to check in on the standings and league leaders. Both the East and the West Division races are tight at the top.

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox remain atop the East at 11-6-2, but they lost at home on Sunday to the second-place Harwich Mariners. With a 10-6-3 record, the Mariners are right on the Red Sox heels. Harwich has the best pitching staff in the league with a 2.47 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Mariners’ lefty Matthew Heiberger won Pitcher of the Week for June 28-July 4. He’s only allowed one earned run in four relief appearances, and his 0.53 WHIP is the best in the league

The Brewster Whitecaps are third in the East, right there at 10-8-1. Brewster’s right fielder Josiah Ragsdale continues to lead the league in hitting at .373.

In the East, the Hyannis Harbor Hawks still lead the way with a 9-7-3 record. Hyannis split back-to-back games with Y-D on July 3 and 4. Both contests were low-scoring one-run games. The Harbor Hawks own the best lineup on Cape Cod, and shortstop Jaxon Willits’ .534 OBP is the league’s best.

Second place in the East belongs to the Falmouth Commodores at 9-9-1. Falmouth is led by center fielder Maika Niu, who leads the league in OPS (1.118) and HR (7). Commodores’ right-hander Trever Baumler is the only qualified pitcher in the league yet to allow an earned run. On the Fourth of July, right fielder Antonio Morales made one of the plays of the season so far when he sprinted toward the right-field corner and took flight for a diving catch.

The Cotuit Kettleers, who have spent much of the first half in last place, went 4-2 for their last six games, including an historic victory on Saturday. Cotuit defeated Brewster, 19-3, in seven innings. Yes, you read that score correctly. The Kettleers tallied 21 hits, and 14 of the runs came in the bottom of the sixth inning.

According to Cape League historian Mike Richard, 14 runs is two-off of the all-time record for runs in an inning. Cotuit tied its club record previously set in 1983. Ryne Farber, Nolan Stevens and Jack Natili hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the frame, marking only the third instance of three consecutive homers in league history and the first since 1999. A switch hitter, Farber recorded a hit from both sides of the plate in the frame, the first known instance in league history.

Cotuit was on the wrong side of a blowout victory on Sunday when the Wareham Gatemen nearly matched the Kettleers’ run total from the day prior with 16. Third baseman Colby Turner went 4-for-5 in the game with two home runs, seven RBI and 11 total bases.

With the calendar turned to July, stakes ramp up, and the standings have taken shape; All-Star selections are upcoming. Division titles and playoff spots are on the line.
