WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. 一 Following the conclusion of the 2024 regular season, the Cape Cod Baseball League is pleased to announce its annual awards:

PAT SORRENTI AWARD • MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

Y-D’s Ethan Petry (South Carolina) has received the Pat Sorenti Most Valuable Player Award.

The honor is given to the player who has performed best during the Cape League season. Multiple statistical categories are considered for this award, which is voted on by the field managers and commissioner.

THURMAN MUNSON AWARD • BATTING CHAMPION

Cotuit’s Jarren Advincula (Cal) won the Thurman Munson Batting Champion Award.

The honor is given to the player with the highest batting average among qualified hitters in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

B.F.C. WHITEHOUSE AWARD • OUTSTANDING PITCHER

Orleans’ Itsuki Takemoto (Hawaii) was awarded the B.F.C. Whitehouse Outstanding Pitcher Award.

The recognition is given to the pitcher who has put up the best overall numbers in the Cape Cod Baseball League among qualified pitchers. This award considers IP, K/IP, WHIP, appearances, ERA and batting average against.

RUSS FORD AWARD • OUTSTANDING RELIEF PITCHER

Y-D’s Trevor Moore (Stanford) was named the Russ Ford Outstanding Relief Pitcher.

The award is given to the relief pitcher who has put up the best overall numbers among qualified pitchers in the Cape Cod Baseball League. It is determined using the Major League Baseball Relief Man Formula.

ROBERT A. McNEESE MOST OUTSTANDING PRO PROSPECT AWARD

Y-D’s Ethan Petry (South Carolina) was named the Robert A McNeese Outstanding Pro Prospect Award winner.

The honor is awarded to a player who has shown the highest-rated tools and intangibles throughout the season and has been recommended by the professional scouts who cover the Cape League all season.

JOHN J. CLAFFEY AWARD • OUTSTANDING NEW ENGLAND PLAYER

Harwich’s Cam Maldonado (Northeastern) has been awarded the John J. Claffey Award.

The award is given to the top-performing player in the Cape League who is from New England. To be eligible for this award, a player must list a New England address as his home address on his Registration Form. Special consideration is given to players who attend New England schools.

MANNY ROBELLO AWARD • 10th PLAYER

Wareham's Yohann Dessureault (Stetson) has been named the winner of the Manny Robello 10th Player Award.

The honor is awarded to a player who exceeds expectations on the field and displays exemplary citizenship off the field. This award is the most competitive because there are so many deserving players but, during this season, Dessureault truly stood out.

DANIEL J. SILVA AWARD • SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

Cotuit’s Tanner Thach (UNC Wilmington) has been given the Daniel J. Silva Sportsmanship Award.

This award, given to the player who truly embodies the spirit of competition in the Cape League, is a testament to the character of the recipient. It is recommended by umpires, who have witnessed this player's positive and respectful demeanor during both times of struggle and success.

MIKE CURRAN MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Falmouth’s Jeff Trundy was given the Mike Curran Manager of the Year Award.

The recognition is presented to the field manager committed to teaching and ensuring his players improve and grow as young men off the field. Cape League field managers select the award under the direction of the Commissioner.

JOHN WYLDE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Y-D’s Terry Hisey received the John Wylde General Manager of the Year Award.

The honor is given to a team general manager who exhibits a passion and dedication to the success of the Cape Cod Baseball League that has been achieved through, but not limited to, outstanding integrity, the highest level of ethical behavior, positive guidance toward others either within the franchise or league-wide, leading by example, making positive contributions to Cape League policies and procedures, ensuring their franchise performs on and off the field in an outstanding manner and striving toward accomplishments that are in the best interests of the league.

ROBERT "CURLY" CLEMENT UMPIRE OF THE YEAR AWARD

Jeff Kinney has been named the Robert “Curly” Clement Umpire of the Year.

This honor is awarded annually to the umpire who displays the highest level of professionalism, integrity, consistency and respect for the game of baseball.

PRESIDENT’S TROPHY

The President’s Trophy recognizes the CCBL regular season champion. With a total of 52 points, the 2024 President’s Trophy winner is the Y-D Red Sox.

PAUL GALOP COMMISSIONER'S CUP

The Brewster Whitecaps received the Paul Galop Commissioner’s Cup for the 2024 season.

The award is presented to the team demonstrating the highest level of integrity and professionalism on and off the field, ensuring and enhancing the championship caliber of the Cape Cod Baseball League. All aspects of the franchise are considered, in-season and off-season, from staff and players to volunteers and interns to any activities on the field and in the community.

The Cape Cod Baseball League (Cape League), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the nation, officially formed in 1923, but with roots dating back to 1885. Players from across the United States representing all NCAA college divisions are recruited to play in the 10-team league. Teams are located across Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham and Yarmouth-Dennis.
