HYANNIS, Mass. 一 The Cape Cod Baseball League is excited to share 197 Cape League alumni were selected in the 2024 MLB Draft, representing more than 32% of this year’s picks.

Travis Bazzana (Falmouth '23) headlined the top of the draft, becoming the sixth Cape League player in seven years to be selected with the No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft. The first round consisted of a record-setting 15 Cape League alumni chosen.

The Y-D Red Sox and Bourne Braves led the Cape League, each possessing 24 drafted alumni across the 20-round draft. The Falmouth Commodores led the Cape League with five players drafted in the first round while the Anglers had three selections.

“Having 197 former Cape Leaguers drafted in the MLB Draft is a testament to the high-caliber players who come and play on the Cape each summer,” Cape League Commissioner John Castleberry said. “The Cape League is truly a pipeline to becoming some of the best talent in professional baseball.”

The Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates chose the most Cape League alumni in the 2024 MLB Draft, with 11 each.
