The Hyannis Harbor Hawks earned their first walk-off victory and their first extra-inning game of the 2026 season Saturday afternoon, beating the Falmouth Commodores 4-3 in eight innings.

With Matt Ineich (West Virginia) as the automatic runner on second base to begin the bottom of the eighth, Jax Gimenez (Oregon) lined the fourth pitch of his at-bat down the right-field line to score the winning run.

"I was trying to get the bunt down at first and had two good pitches to put it down, but I took them," Gimenez said. "From there, I was just trying to hit something to the right side and move Matt over. I ended up getting the pitch I wanted and put a good swing on it."

In the top of the eighth, Falmouth threatened to take the lead with a runner on third and one out. Mathew Farner chopped a grounder to third baseman JC Davis (Rice), who fielded it cleanly and fired home to catcher Brody Briggs (Arizona State). Briggs tagged the Commodores' automatic runner, Brayden Jefferis, at the plate to keep the game tied.

Davis wasn't thinking about saving the game. He was just trying not to hit Jefferis with the throw.

"To be honest, I was really just trying not to hit him in the back. Luckily, it worked out," Davis said. "I saw it come toward me, got to the defensive side of it, and tried to feed it in there. I'm happy it worked out, to say the least."

None of it would have mattered without Hyannis rallying back into the game two innings earlier.

The Harbor Hawks fell behind 2-0 on runs in the second and third innings and were held scoreless until a three-run sixth put them back in front.

As it has all season, Hyannis did its damage with two outs. Gimenez started the rally by beating out an infield single to shortstop, and Charlie Bates (Stanford) followed with a bloop single into left field, moving Gimenez to second. Clay Thompson (James Madison) then lined an RBI single to right, scoring Gimenez. Right fielder Gavin Gregor misplayed the ball, allowing Bates to score the tying run while Thompson advanced to second on the error.

Andrew Lamb (Southern California) capped the rally with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Thompson and giving Hyannis its first lead of the afternoon, 3-2.

Falmouth answered in the seventh after Austin Mallee led off with a double to left field. A wild pitch moved him to third, setting up Fabio Peralta's sacrifice fly to deep center field that tied the game at 3.

Afterward, Hyannis head coach Mitch Karraker said the comeback was a valuable test for his team with the playoffs approaching and the margin for error shrinking.

"I thought it was really good for us to get out of the spot we were in in the environment we were in with next week approaching," Karraker said. "We didn't hit very well at the beginning of the game, but we found a way to score some runs late, which was huge. Another great night from our pitching staff. Overall, it was a great game for us."

For the second consecutive day, the Hawks will play a doubleheader, this time hosting the Cotuit Kettleers at McKeon Park on Saturday night.

A win, or a Bourne loss to Yarmouth-Dennis, would clinch the West Division title for Hyannis—the Hawks' first division championship since 2024 and another milestone in a season that keeps building momentum.
