The Cape Cod Baseball League held its annual Fenway Day Wednesday afternoon as teams made the bus ride up to Boston, Massachusetts. The event provided Cape League players the chance to showcase their skills in front of scouts from every MLB organization.
The Harwich Mariners took the field in the afternoon, opening up with infield-outfield practice to present their defensive skills. After shagging balls in the outfield for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, the Mariners got their opportunity to hit balls off Fenway’s left field wall during batting practice.
Here are some of the thoughts and observations from the Mariners during their time at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark:
Infielder Shintaro Inoue
On his first time at Fenway Park
“My model is Masataka Yoshida. He played every game right here. So it’s pretty cool. I really appreciate this opportunity. I want to come here in the future.”

Catcher Matt Conte
On his favorite restaurant in Boston
“ I like Giacomo's. That's one of my favorites. Good Italian restaurant. My go-to order is either a chicken parm or some meatballs and spaghetti is very good.”
Outfielder Bristol Carter
On who he would give the game MVP Cadillac Chain to
“ The position guys just like to give it to another position, guys. So it kind of just runs around the position guys for a while. But, you know, next time I get it, I told myself I'm gonna give it to a pitcher no matter what.”
Outfielder Niko Brini
On which teammates are most likely to hit a ball over the Green Monster
“ I think a lot of these guys could. I'm looking at Harrison (Feinberg) right now, he definitely could. Kyle Wolff too. I've seen him do it a bunch of times.”
Outfielder Tre Broussard
On who would win in race between him and Niko Brini
“I’m winning. 100 percent.”
First Baseman Kyle Wolff
On favorite memories playing at Fenway
“ We play here for the Bean Pot every year. And then we play for the Pete Frates ALS game, and that's so special. There's so many donors here for ALS and to raise ALS awareness and it's the coolest night of the year."
