The Braves got one of their most exciting wins of the season on Wednesday night over Cotuit. After giving up four runs in the first inning, Bourne rallied for six unanswered over the next three frames to take the lead. Right as the Bravos had gained momentum, the Kettleers took back the lead with another four-run inning in the sixth. Now down 8-6 heading into the seventh, the Braves rallied once again. After tying the game in the seventh, Burke-Lee Maebus (Mississippi State) recorded his third RBI of the night in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk to score the eventual game-winning run.
Last Time Out - Hyannis
The Harbor Hawks have been unable to play either of their last two games because of weather, setting them up to play the next 11 days to close out the season. In their only game since the All-Star break, Hyannis secured a 7-5 victory over the Chatham Anglers.
Previous Matchups
The Braves and Harbor Hawks have faced off twice this summer, splitting the season series 1-1. Bourne took the first matchup in convincing fashion, pulling off a 13-3 seven-inning win at McKeon Park. Hyannis responded on the first day of July with an 8-7 win over the Braves at Doran Park.
Players to Watch - Bourne
With Andrew Costello’s departure, the Braves will be looking for Burke-Lee Maebus and Brice Estep (South Carolina) to step up in his absence. Even with Costello’s production, Bourne’s catchers are hitting just .215 collectively this season. Maebus and Estep have shown spurts of production, but will need to be a solid force in the lineup for the Braves to go far in the playoffs.
Player to Watch - Hyannis
One of the Harbor Hawks’ most consistent players is getting hot at the right time. Despite hitting just .207 through 27 games this summer, Caden Miller (UTSA) has been on a tear over the last week. In his last four games, the Hyannis first baseman has reached base in eight of 14 at-bats, boasting a .429 batting average and 1.071 OPS in those games.
