The Bourne Braves return home to Doran Park on Sunday evening to take on the Y-D Red Sox. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET. The Braves are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Harwich Mariners, while Y-D rides into the game on a six-game win streak.

Probables

Bourne - LHP Brendon Bennett (Clemson): 7.2 IP, 1.17 ERA

Y-D - RHP Taylor Penn (Arizona State): 5.0 IP, 3.60 ERA

Last Time Out - Bourne

The Braves struggled on both sides of the ball in their loss to Harwich. Bourne jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring in the first inning for the second straight game. From there, the bats went cold. Mariners’ pitchers retired 15 straight batters, and only allowed one run for the rest of the game. On defense, a mix of Bravos’ pitching and fielding errors allowed Harwich to score four runs in the second inning. The Mariners would score one more, and finished with a 5-2 victory

Last Time Out - Y-D

The Red Sox clinched their first shutout win of the summer en route to their sixth-straight win. Facing the Wareham Gatemen, Y-D got out to an early lead with three runs in the second. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Red Sox added insurance runs to build their lead to what would be the final score, 5-0. Four Y-D pitchers threw in the contest to shutout the Gatemen, combining for 11 strikeouts.

Previous Matchups

This is the second game between last year’s championship series foes. The Red Sox only scored in one inning against the Braves in their first matchup, but it was enough to secure a 4-2 win.

Player to Watch - Bourne

Looking at the top of the leaderboards for most of the major offensive stat categories in the CCBL, you’ll see Andrew Costello’s (South Carolina) name.
