Hyannis: Casey Euper (Pepperdine): 2.0 IP, 0.00 ERA
Last Time Out - Bourne
After struggling to produce on offense in their 3-3 tie with Cotuit on Monday, the Braves’ bats came out firing on all cylinders against Hyannis. The Bravos’ put up a crooked number in three different innings, including a seven-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach of the Harbor Hawks. Bourne’s bullpen also shined, retiring nine out of the last 11 hitters in the game to secure the victory.
Last Time Out - Orleans
The Firebirds fell behind early and weren’t able to recover in their 7-4 loss to Falmouth. The Commodores scored in each of the first two innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Orleans got on the board in the sixth to cut the lead to one run, but Falmouth answered with five runs over the next three innings to pull away. A three-run home run from Orleans’ Tyler Myatt (Tennessee) made it a 7-4 ballgame in the ninth, but they fell short of completing the comeback.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Andrew Costello (Wake Forest) has been consistent at the plate for the Braves to open the season. Costello has hits in three of the first four games to open the year, including two multi-hit performances. The younger Costello brother played in 15 games for Wake Forest this past spring, hitting .255 with two doubles and a home run.
Player to Watch - Orleans
Dominic Cadiz (UCLA) has stood out as Orleans’ best hitter in the early season. The Firebirds’ third baseman has seven hits through four games, nearly twice as many as any other Orleans batter this season. Cadiz appeared in 39 games as a freshman for UCLA this past spring, batting .256 with five doubles and two home runs.
