HYANNIS, Mass. – The Falmouth Commodores fell to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks for the fifth time in a row in a 10-0 loss tonight.

“Games like that happen, we just got to flush it out early,” Christian Martin (Virginia Tech) said.

Martin was the first to bat and picked up a single for the Commodores. The top of the first came to an end with Kollin Ritchie (Oklahoma State) striking out.

Colby Guy (UNC Asheville) started at pitcher for the Commodores. He got two strikeouts and a flyout while on the mound to close out the first inning.

The second and third innings were a similar story staying at 0-0. Guy picked up two more strikeouts and gave up his first walk to Anthony Silva (Dallas Baptist) in the bottom of the third.

Harbor Hawks starter Joseph Dzierwa (Michigan State) picked up his first strikeout on Isaiah Barkett (Stetson) in the top of the third.

The Commodores loaded the bases in the top of the fourth, but Hyannis stopped Falmouth from crossing home plate with back-to-back forceouts. Shortstop Silva passed it to second baseman Jon-Jon Gazdar (Dallas Baptist) to get Tab Tracy (Texas A&M) out.

During the bottom of the fourth, the Commodores made a pitching change to Santhosh Gottam (Brown) after Guy gave up two walks and Parker Brosius (Merrimack) stole second base.

Hyannis put up the first numbers on the scoreboard with a run from third base to home from Brosius. The Harbor Hawks started to pick up some momentum and got three more runs to make it 4-0.

Going into the top of the fifth, Hyannis had a pitching change as well. Aaron Savary (Iowa) replaced Dzierwa. Savary forced two strikeouts and a groundout but gave up a walk and a single to Falmouth.

The Commodore’s defense redeemed themselves in the bottom of the fifth getting two groundouts and a flyout. During the bottom of the sixth, there were two pitching changes, Russell Derbyshire (Jacksonville State) came out of the bullpen to relieve Gottam, then Peter Phillips (Fairfield) relieved Derbyshire after 24 pitches.

Hyannis picked up six runs to increase its lead to 10-0 to close the sixth inning. Falmouth was still seeking its first points of the game.

After the top of the seventh, the Commodores were mercied per the new 10-run rule after the seventh that was added this year.

Up next, Falmouth will host the Wareham Gateman tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET.
