The sounds of fans cheering, the laughter at the ballpark, the smell of amazing food. That’s summer collegiate ball on Cape Cod. We’ve reached the midway point of the CCBL season, with all teams playing 20 games so far. With the All-Star Game approaching, fans are starting to learn which teams could be lifting the trophy at the end of the summer. So, with the second half beginning, let's take a trip around the league and evaluate how each team has performed so far this summer.
East Division:
1. Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (17-2-1, 35 points)
Y-D was the final unbeaten team this summer after winning its first five games. Although Y-D would go on to lose its sixth game, it bounced back with eight straight wins to produce the most wins (13) through the first 15 games of a season in the CCBL since 2011, when game-by-game stats were first tracked. Y-D’s 13-1-1 record was one point shy of the record to start a season when Cotuit went 13-0-2 in 2002. For a more in-depth look at the start of Y-D’s season, check out Sam and Martha’s reviews of the team's hitters and pitchers on this site.
2. Brewster Whitecaps (13-6-1, 27 points)
Brewster jumps into second in the East Division after four of its first five games to begin the month of July. This includes two straight wins against Harwich in as many days. In Brewster’s last seven days, they own the league's best ERA at 1.85, allowing only eight runs during this stretch. On Saturday, Payton Manca (FSU) went five innings, allowing only three hits and striking out five in Brewster’s 13-0 mercy-ruled game vs Harwich. This performance provided Manca with his first win and brought down his ERA to .057 after 15.2 innings pitched. On the hitting side, Jamie Laskofki has been phenomenal for Brewster, with a batting average of .333 and leads the team in hits at 20. Another star for Brewster is Jacob Lee, who co-leads the league in home runs at four so far this season.
3. Harwich Mariners (13-7-0, 26 points)
Harwich has been running wild this summer, leading the league by a large margin in stolen bases at 68, and Chatham is the next best team at 40. Harwich at 53/69 has the third-best stolen-base percentage in the league. JP Peltier leads the Mariners at 13 stolen bases through 20 games this season. A key to Harwich’s success has been its ability to win close games. In games decided by three runs or less, Harwich is 8-2, including an 8-5 loss against Y-D on Opening Day. Offensively, Colin Larson has been a standout for the Mariners, leading the team in batting average (.310), OBP (.437), and SLG (.483). Trey Williford leads the team in strikeouts at 19 in 13.2 innings pitched.
4. Chatham Anglers (9-9-2, 20 points)
It’s been an up-and-down season so far for the Anglers, who are the most eastern CCBL team in the league. They started the season losing their first four, then proceeded to win four in a row. Since then, Chatham has been a .500 team. The team leads the league in drawing walks, at 107, so far this season. On the hitting side, Cooper Neville leads the team in RBIs at 16, which is also second best in that category in the league in 2026. Neville, who averages .292, has 21 hits, three doubles, and one home run to go along with the RBIs. Looking at the pitching, Angel Cervantes out of UCLA has been a star in his appearances this season. Cervantes has an ERA of 0.66 in 13.2 innings pitched, allowing 10 hits and only one run in four appearances.
5. Orleans Firebirds (6-14-0, 12 points)
While Orleans currently sits in last place in the East Division, they are only eight points behind Chatham. Hitting has been a strength for the ball club as they have the fourth most hits in the league. Unfortunately for the Firebirds, they have been unable to turn the hits into runs, which has resulted in their record. The team does have promise, as MLB Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre’s son is a member of the Orleans squad. Adrian (AJ) Beltre Jr. has nine hits, three doubles, and eight walks to his name in 2026. AJ is planning on becoming a two-way player and has already appeared in three games for Orleans as a pitcher, where he has allowed just two hits and no runs in five innings so far. In addition, Dominic Cadiz has been hot for Orleans and leads the league with 25 hits through the first half of the season.
West Division
1. Bourne Braves (9-8-3, 21 points)
Behind its phenomenal pitching, Bourne finds itself atop the West Division after securing their third championship in the past four seasons. The Braves pitching staff has allowed the fewest number of hits (116) and home runs (5), as well as leading the league in strikeouts (193). Bourne is the only team in this division with a positive differential at +12. Key players for the Braves include returnee Will Whelan (Minnesota), who boasts a 0.69 ERA in 13 innings pitched. Last summer, also with Bourne, Whelan posted a 1.50 ERA and a 3-1 record in 20.2 innings pitched. Another standout is Austin Musso (ASU), who has a WHIP of 0.86 in four appearances. Switching to hitting, Bourne is led by Andrew Costello (Wake Forest), who has the best average in the league at .362. So far, he has 22 hits, with four doubles and two home runs. He has five RBIs on the season as well as nine walks.
2. Hyannis Harbor Hawks (9-11-0, 18 points)
Harbor Hawks, more like Home Run Hawks. That’s because as we reach the halfway point of the summer, Hyannis leads the league in home runs at 19. Six different Harbor Hawks have had more two or more home runs so far this season, and with the way the team has been swinging lately, that number will just keep climbing. JP Head (UAB) is a key reason why Hyannis is towards the top of the standings. His 11 RBIs lead the team, and he is tied with the most home runs on the team with three. Looking at pitching, Brady St. Pierre has a 1.54 ERA, the best on the team, through 11.2 innings pitched. He also has 12 strikeouts during the season.
3. Falmouth Commodores (8-11-1, 17 points)
Home cooking in Falmouth has helped them to sit just one point below second-place Hyannis in the West. The Commodores have scored 52 out of their 96 runs at home, and five of their next seven games will be played at home. Manager Jack Dahm has seen a balanced attack from his squad so far this season as seven different Commodores have scored double-digit hits this season. Ty Kaunas leads the team in RBIs at 16 to go along with his 15 hits, second best on the team. On the pitching side, Sachem Ramos has been the star in Falmouth, with an ERA of 1.46. He allowed his first hits of the season in his most recent start after not allowing any runs in his first eight innings on the mound.
4. Cotuit Kettleers (6-12-2, 14 points)
One week into the 2026 summer, rookie manager Rob Cooper went .500 and looked like he was coaching his team towards the top of the standings. This start included a road win against Y-D, which ended their opponents’ five-game winning streak to start the season. Unfortunately, Cotuit enters the halfway point losing six of its last seven games. One bright spot for this team is its ability to get on base with 25 doubles, which is third best, and 88 walks, which is fourth best in the league. In terms of hitting, JJ Moran (Stanford) has 12 hits on the season, with a third of those hits being doubles. Hunter Warren leads the team with a .348 batting average and an .812 OBP. On the mound, Adam McKelvey (GT) has been great in his outings for Cotuit. In 12 innings pitched, he has only allowed eight hits and six runs and holds a 0.83 WHIP.
5. Wareham Gateman (5-15-0, 10 points)
Wareham got off to a slow start in June, but has heated up in July, winning two of its last three games to begin the new month. All five Gateman wins to begin the summer have come at home, and this team will look to build off its phenomenal pitching when they take the field on the road moving forward. A star in Wareham is Ethan Baiotto, a freshman from Tennessee. In five appearances, Baiotto holds a 1.15 ERA and has only allowed twelve hits and two runs. He is one of two Gateman pitchers to have a sub-one WHIP, joining Garrett Lambert from Mercer. Levi Clark (Tennessee) is back for his second consecutive season with Wareham. Clark has picked up where he left off, and so far in 2026, he leads the Gatemen in hits and doubles.
