Congratulations to former Y-D player Buster Posey on being named the new President of Baseball Operations for the San Francisco Giants. Buster was a seven-time All Star, a three-time World Series champion, the NL MVP and batting champion in 2012, the NL Rookie of the Year in 2010, a Gold Glove winner in 2016, a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner and a two-time NL Comeback Player of the Year. In 2008, he was the Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year, the ACC Player of the Year and the Johnny Bench award winner as college baseball’s top NCAA D-1 catcher. This award is now named after him. He retired in 2021 and joined San Francisco’s ownership group in 2022.
For Y-D in 2006, Buster was the starting shortstop on a CCBL title team. In 2007, he was the starting catcher on another CCBL title team. Both teams were managed by current Y-D manager Scott Pickler. Buster is also known for another significant accomplishment on the Cape. He holds the record for the lowest score on the miniature golf Captain’s Course at Pirate’s Cove!
Y-D wishes him the best of luck in his new position.
