Nine Whitecaps named to East Division All-Star team

Nine Brewster Whitecaps have been named to the East Division All-Star team, the Cape Cod Baseball League announced Saturday morning. The team is headlined by four starters: Ryder Helfrick (Arkansas), Nick Dumesnil (Cal Baptist), Daniel Cuvet (Miami) and Brody Donay (Florida).

The East team includes four Brewster infielders, who fill out more than half the team’s infield selections. Donay, Kaeden Kent (Texas A&M), Drew Faurot (Florida State) and Cuvet will all represent the Whitecaps at Falmouth’s Guv Fuller Field.

In 20 games, Cuvet has recorded a .953 OPS with six home runs and 19 RBI. Faurot and Kent have added stability to the middle infield while Donay has brought advanced power to the first base position, hammering five homers.

Helfrick was one of two catchers selected to the East Division roster. He’s having a phenomenal summer for the Whitecaps, leading the CCBL in home runs (nine) and RBI (33).

Dumesnil and J.D. Rogers (Vanderbilt) also earned selections as outfielders. Dumesnil leads Brewster in batting average with a .315 clip while also leading the league in stolen bases with 19. Rogers has also been impressive, leading the team in OBP with a .450 mark.

Pitchers Jake Clemente (Florida) and Will Ray (Wake Forest) were also selected. Clemente has been one of the top pitchers in the CCBL as of late, notching a 1.93 ERA through 18 2/3 innings. Against Harwich on July 17, Clemente was nearly perfect, allowing just one hit through seven scoreless innings.

Ray has also had a great summer in a high-leverage bullpen role. He’s recorded a 0.89 WHIP in 2024 while saving two games.

The All-Star Game will take place in Falmouth on July 27. Helfrick, Cuvet, Donay and Dumesnil were selected as starters for the East Division.
