COTUIT, Mass. – The Cotuit Athletic Association (“CAA”) - the sponsoring organization for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League - is pleased to announce that Loren Hibbs has been hired as the Kettleers’ head coach for the 2025 season.

Hibbs is an experienced, accomplished head coach who has earned Coach of the Year honors in four major conferences (the Metro, Conference USA, Atlantic 10 and the American). He was head baseball coach at UNC Charlotte and, most recently, at Wichita State. In addition, Hibbs has experience as a pitching performance consultant, assistant athletic director, on-air broadcaster and analyst for Charlotte’s AAA ball club, and a college baseball recruiter.

Hibbs also brings deep, long-standing relationships with college coaches, professional baseball scouts and agents. He has extensive experience with issues that challenge all summer collegiate baseball leagues (especially leagues like the CCBL with premier players), including: roster management, NCAA summer baseball rules and guidelines, the transfer portal and the NCAA’s NIL (name, image and likeness) policy. Finally, his experience building coaching and management infrastructures to support premier collegiate athletes will help the CAA create a baseball organization built to thrive in the future. These critical, relevant experiences will serve both the Kettleers and the CCBL well.

Asked about his decision to join the Kettleers’ organization, coach Hibbs said, “I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead the Kettleers. Cotuit has a long history of success winning championships while providing a positive environment for player development. It’s a special place with quality people at all levels of the CAA and in the community. I’m looking forward to this summer!”

Bruce Murphy, the team’s general manager, is looking forward to the prospect of Hibbs being a part of the special Cotuit community culture. “The organization is genuinely excited by the spirit, energy, enthusiasm, community orientation and direction Loren brings to the Kettleers and the CAA, and I expect he will add meaningfully to our team’s storied history,” Murphy said.

The Kettleers open their 78th season at Lowell Park on Sunday, June 15 at 5 p.m., against the Wareham Gatemen.
