Eight Kettleers selected in Day Two of the 2026 MLB Draft

This brings the final total of Cotuit players and alumni in the 2026 draft up to 14
LHP Kide Adetuyi FAU

The first Kettleer off the board on Day 2 was Kide Adetuyi, who went to the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round with the 214th overall pick. The pitcher from Florida Atlantic and Merritt Island, Florida played for Cotuit during the 2025 season.

Adetuyi appeared in two games for the Kettleers, totaling three innings. In that span, he allowed three hits and two runs while striking out five batters.

The southpaw played for the Owls in both of his collegiate seasons. In 2025, he made 21 appearances and had a 1-0 record. He fanned 15 batters in those outings and allowed 14 earned runs. This past season, he made 17 appearances with 13 of them being starts. Adetuyi held a 2-3 record in those appearances, fanning 85 batters while holding a 4.19 earned run average.

OF Dean West UCLA

The Kettleers did not have to wait long to see another alum get drafted, as Dean West went to the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh round with the 222nd overall pick. The outfielder from UCLA and Woodland Hills, California also played for Cotuit during the 2025 season.

West appeared in 24 games for the Kettleers, getting 71 at-bats. He hit .254 for Cotuit while also holding an on-base percentage of .419. He also stole three bases and had seven runs batted-in.

Across three seasons for the Bruins, West played in 144 games. In his freshman season in 2024 he appeared in 20 games, hitting .295 with a whopping .456 on-base percentage. He had three stolen bases and seven runs batted-in.

West earned the everyday starter role for UCLA in 2025, appearing in 66 games. He was third on the team with 79 hits while also being tied for second in batting average with .320. West also hit four home runs, 12 doubles, 13 stolen bases and 41 runs batted-in. In 2026, he hit .277 with seven home runs, 11 stolen bases and 41 runs-batted in.

Almost immediately after another Kettleer was drafted when the Washington Nationals drafted Max Hansmann in the eighth round with the 226th overall pick. The pitcher from Evansville and Elmhurst, Illinois played for Cotuit back in 2024.

Hansmann appeared in two games for the Kettleers, throwing a total of 3.1 innings. In that span, he allowed just one earned run and fanned six batters.

The right-hander spent four years with the Aces, three in relief and one as a starter. As a freshman in 2023, Hansmann made 23 appearances in which he struck out 38 batters and had a 3-0 record. The next year he went 2-1 in 26 appearances out of the bullpen, striking out 41.

As a junior, he upped his strikeout total to 55 and made 19 appearances across 50.2 innings. In his senior season and lone year as a starter Hansmann started 15 games. Across 85.2 innings, he had a 3.99 earned run average and struck out 83 batters.

INF Rintaro Sasaki Stanford

The next round, a fourth Kettleer was taken off the board when Rintaro Sasaki went to the Miami Marlins in the eighth round with the 235th overall pick. The first baseman from Stanford and Hanamaki, Japan played for Cotuit during the 2025 season as well.

Sasaki donned the Kettleer uniform in 10 games, getting 28 at-bats. He hit .107 for Cotuit while holding an on-base percentage of .265. Sasaki also hit two home runs and notched six runs batted-in.

Across two seasons for the Cardinal, Sasaki played in 106 games. In his freshman season in 2025, Sasaki played in 52 games, hitting for a .269 batting average and a .377 on-base percentage. He also hit seven home runs and knocked in 41 runners. In 2026, he hit for a .262 batting average and a .403 on-base percentage, blasting 16 home runs and knocking in 47 runners.

INF Camden Johnson OU

A bit later, Camden Johnson was taken off the board by the Kansas City Royals in the ninth round with the 269th overall pick. The third baseman from Oklahoma and Boerne, Texas played for the Kettleers during the 2025 season.

Johnson was in the maroon and white for the entire season, playing 39 games for the team. He hit for a .292 batting average and held a .362 on-base percentage. Johnson also knocked in 11 runners and stole a whopping 18 bases.

The left-handed hitter played for two schools in college. Johnson started off at Wichita State University, playing two seasons and 116 games for the Shockers. He hit .326 across 60 games as a freshman for Wichita State, totaling 16 extra-base hits, 32 runs batted-in and seven stolen bases. In his final season with the Shockers, he hit .325 across 56 games while totaling 20 extra-base hits, 35 runs batted-in and nine stolen bases.

In his lone season with the Sooners, Johnson played a career-high 65 games. He hit for a .298 batting average and a .403 on-base percentage. He also had a career high nine home runs and 48 runs batted-in. Johnson helped Oklahoma win the 2026 National Championship as well.

LHP Rob Evans Miami

The next Kettleer to get drafted was not until the 12th round, when the San Diego Padres selected Rob Evans with the 365th overall pick. The pitcher from Miami (FL) and Harlem, New York played for Cotuit during the 2025 season.

Evans made three appearances for the Kettleers, starting all three games. He held a 1.32 earned run average in those starts, allowing just two earned runs in 13.2 innings of work. The southpaw also fanned 13 batters while walking just three.

Evans had a long journey to professional baseball, starting back at Chipola College in 2023. There, he made 13 appearances, 11 of which were starts. Across 56 innings, he struck out 70 batters and allowed 34 earned runs. Evans then transferred to Georgia State, where he again started 11 games in 2024. Holding a 3-2 record, Evans struck out 48 batters and allowed 30 earned runs.

He then transferred to the Hurricanes, where he played two seasons. In 2025, he made 17 appearances out of the bullpen where he had a 4.70 earned run average. This past season, he started in 15 out of his 16 appearances, holding a 3.29 earned run average while fanning a team-high 98 batters.

The most recent Kettleer to get drafted was Luke McGrath, who was taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round with the 547th overall pick. The pitcher from James Madison and Charlotte, North Carolina was a member of the 2026 Cotuit squad.

McGrath made four appearances for the Kettleers this season, all out of the bullpen. He held a 2.70 earned run average in 6.2 innings of work. McGrath also had a 1-0 record.

The right-hander played two seasons with the Dukes, largely appearing out of the bullpen in both. As a freshman in 2025 he made just four appearances, allowing three earned runs in 1.2 innings of work. He improved massively in 2026, holding a 5.79 earned run average and a 2-2 record. McGrath also struck out 28 batters while only walking 20.

INF PJ Moutzouridis ASU

The final Kettleer to get drafted was P.J. Moutzoridis, who was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 19th round with the 557th overall pick. The shortstop from Arizona State University and San Jose, California played for Cotuit in 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, Moutzoridis appeared in three games and had nine at-bats. In that short stint, he had two hits and stole two bases. The following summer, he appeared in five games and had 18 at-bats. This time, he had three hits including a double while stealing one base.

Moutzoridis spent two years at California-Berkeley before joining the Sun Devils. In 2024 he played in 55 games, hitting for a .299 average and a .389 on-base percentage. He also hit six home runs and knocked in 42 runs. The next season, he held a .270 batting average and knocked in 31 runners.

In his lone season with Arizona State, Moutzoridis had a .286 batting average and a career high .410 on-base percentage. He also had four home runs and 40 runs batted-in.
