A new book about the Whitecaps and the CCBL has just been published.
Mark “Pathfinder” Epstein spent the summer of 2024 in Brewster working with the Whitecaps and interviewing players, coaches, volunteers and host families. The resulting book chronicles the 2024 Brewster Whitecaps season.
The book was released in April 2025. The reception by readers and critics alike can be categorized as nothing short of a home run. Cape Dreams is the No. 1 new baseball book on Kindle in April, and the book is in the collection of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s library.
As the story Cape Dreams: A Season with the Brewster Whitecaps moves along, the reader is drawn into not just the players and coaches but the supporting cast of more than 100 volunteers who, by the end of this story, the reader knows well enough to call friends.
While reading this once in a generation classic you will learn about the players, who were brought together in the summer of 2024 by their manager, the forever lovable Jamie Shevchik. You learn of their dreams and ambitions. You will get to know the coaches and get on top of one of the many up-and-down tidal waves, as this group of lovable characters will take you on one of your most unforgettable journeys that became almost historic.
Included in this story are interviews and close-up looks at some of the biggest names in the baseball world.
Cape Dreams: A Season with the Brewster Whitecaps is available on Amazon in paperback, Kindle and as an audiobook. It is also available at the Brewster Bookstore. Mark “Pathfinder” Epstein will be at some Whitecaps home games this summer to chat and sign books. Mark’s dates will be posted to the website and on Whitecaps social media as the season progresses.
