Bourne - RHP Jaden Alba (Arizona State): 12.0 IP, 0.75 ERA
Wareham - RHP Wade Walton (High Point): 11.0 IP, 6.55 ERA
Last Time Out - Bourne
The Braves didn’t give up in Wednesday’s game, despite falling behind early. The Harbor Hawks scored four runs in the first inning and added two runs in each the second and third frames to build an 8-0 lead. From there, Bourne improved on both sides of the ball. The Braves’ bullpen shut out the Harbor Hawks for the remainder of the game, and the offense started to find its groove. Bourne scored five runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to make it a contest. The Bravos’ had the tying run up to bat in the ninth, but went down 1-2-3 to end the game.
Last Time Out - Wareham
The Gatemen’s fifth straight loss came against Brewster on Wednesday night. Despite out-hitting the Whitecaps, Wareham found themselves down 5-0 after Brewster scored three in the top of the eighth. The Gatemen would score runs in the final two innings, but the game ended in their 13th loss of the season.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Blake Schaaf (Wake Forest) has been one of Bourne’s most consistent hitters this season. The Braves’ second baseman has the third-best batting average on the team, trailing only Andrew Costello (South Carolina) and Matt Bolton (Binghamton). Schaaf enters today’s game with a five-game hit streak, and has hits in all but two games he’s appeared in this season.
Player to Watch - Wareham
Ethan Baiotto (Tennessee) has been the best arm on the Gatemen roster so far this summer. In four appearances out of the bullpen, the righty has an 0.77 ERA over 11.2 innings. Baiotto also has the fourth-best WHIP (0.77) of any reliever who has pitched 10.0 or more innings this season.
