Hyannis - Brady St. Pierre (Southeastern Louisiana): 7.2 IP, 2.35 ERA
Last Time Out - Bourne
One big inning cost the Braves dearly in their 10-7 loss to Brewster on Tuesday. Through the first six and a half innings of the game, Bourne had built a 5-1 lead and were looking to cruise to their second straight win. In the bottom of the seventh, however, the Whitecaps took over. Brewster brought 14 batters to the plate in the frame, scoring nine runs to take a 10-5 lead. The Braves started to come back with two runs in the top of the eighth, but the game would be cut short due to darkness.
Last Time Out - Hyannis
The Harbor Hawks picked up their sixth win of the year with a 5-3 win over the Cotuit Kettleers. Hyannis got the scoring started in the first inning with a solo home run from Matt Ineich (West Virginia). The Harbor Hawks would build up a 4-0 lead in the matchup, and held off a ninth inning rally by the Kettleers to secure the victory.
Previous Matchups
The Braves dominated the first game of the season between these two teams. Bourne’s seven-run fifth inning helped them secure a 13-3 victory in seven innings.
Player to Watch - Bourne
Luke Costello (South Carolina) has been on a tear as of late. In his latest performance against Brewster, the Braves’ corner infielder collected three hits and drove home four runs. After a slow start to the year, Costello now has the third-highest batting average among qualified Braves hitters. He also collected his sixth double of the summer in yesterday’s loss, the most by a player in the CCBL this season.
Player to Watch - Hyannis
Last spring’s ASUN Player of the Year, Jon Embury (Florida), is off to a hot start in Hyannis. The Harbor Hawk’s backstop is batting .333 through 13 games this season, ranking fifth-best in the CCBL this summer. Embury has three games this season with three or more hits, the most of any player in the CCBL this summer.
