The Bourne Braves look to get back in the win column, returning home to face the Cotuit Kettleers on Wednesday night. After back-to-back losses for the Bravos, they settled for a tie in a rain-shortened eight inning game against Chatham on Tuesday night. The Kettleers hope to bounce back from a 6-0 loss to Brewster.

Probables

Bourne: RHP Noah Scott (Oregon State): 2.0 IP, 9.00 ERA

Cotuit: RHP Tristan Hunter (Kentucky): 5.0 IP, 3.60 ERA

Last Time Out - Bourne

Going into Tuesday’s game against Chatham, the Braves knew the rain would be a factor in the game. Around the sixth inning, it became just that. The Bravos and Anglers were both scoreless going into the sixth. LHP Will Whelan (Minnesota) pitched excellent for the Braves, throwing 5.0 no-hit innings. Bourne was the first to score in the sixth, with CF Matt Bolton (Binghamton) scoring on a sacrifice fly by 3B Luke Costello (Wake Forest). Chatham responded in the seventh to tie the game at one. Though the pouring rain in the eighth, both teams mustered a run, but the Braves turned a clutch double play in the bottom of the frame that ensured the game ended in a tie.

Last Time Out - Cotuit

Not much went right for the Kettleers in their shutout loss to the Brewster Whitecaps. Cotuit only had two hits in the contest, both coming off the bat of Landon Beaver (UAB). Brewster only had six hits, but took advantage of two Kettleers’ errors to score six runs before the game was called after seven innings due to darkness.

Player to Watch - Bourne

RHP Adam Buczkowski (Cincinnati) has stood out as the Braves’ best bullpen arm early in the season. The sidearmer has made three appearances this summer, hurling 3.2 shutout innings with only one hit and one walk allowed. In his previous collegiate season with the Bearcats, Buczkowski threw 41.1 innings over 28 appearances and had a 4.35 ERA.

Player to Watch - Cotuit

Landon Beaver has been the bright spot of a struggling Cotuit offense. The Kettleers’ outfielder has eight hits through his first eight games, the most of any Cotuit batter this season. This past spring with UAB, Beaver hit .310 with seven home runs and a .445 on-base percentage.
