FALMOUTH, Mass. — With the off-day sandwiched between a three-game losing streak, the Braves found themselves in a similar position to the trio of defeats.
Trying to flip the mojo and find the win column, Bourne once again dealt with a low-scoring contest in a road tilt against Falmouth at Guv Fuller Field.
This time around, the Braves had a result more to their liking, as they emerged victorious with a 6-3 win.
It took until the fourth inning for either side to cash in, but both sides had ample opportunities as in each team’s first three plate appearances there was a runner in scoring position.
Bourne, however, drew first blood, starting with a pair of singles from Kuhio Aloy (Arkansas) and Kade Lewis (Wake Forest). Aloy reached third on a wild pitch by Conner Linn (Northern Kentucky). He became the first player to touch home plate in the game on a sacrifice fly hit by Mark Quatrani (Notre Dame) to put the Braves ahead 1-0.
Falmouth answered back in the bottom of the frame, after two singles from Ryan Zuckerman (Pittsburgh) and Justin Osterhouse (Alabama). The tandem both advanced on a throwing error from Gavin Kelly (West Virginia) behind the plate on a back-pick attempt. Zuckerman then scored on a sacrifice fly from Reece Moroney (Rhode Island) to tie the game up at 1-1.
Bourne then took the lead right back in the fifth, as Ryan Cooney (Oregon) doubled and Jon LeGrande (St. John’s) walked. The pair both moved up a base after a Braden Holcomb (Vanderbilt) sacrifice bunt, and then they both scored on a two-run single by Aloy to make the score 3-1.
The Commodores cut the deficit to a run in the sixth, as Zuckerman sent a blast to right-center field for a home run to make the score 3-2.

Bourne then pushed its lead with a three-run inning in the seventh, starting with a LeGrande double and a one-base knock from Aloy for his third RBI of the evening. Lewis then reached on a throwing error by Zuckerman. After a pair of errors by Moroney at shortstop, both Aloy and Lewis scored to extend the advantage to 6-2.
Falmouth tacked on another in the ensuing half-inning, starting with an Ashton Wilson (Florida) single after pinch-hitting for Tristan Salinas (North Greenvile). Wilson reached third after a groundout from Chris Newstrom (Tennessee) and a wild pitch from Joe Colucci (Virginia). He then cashed in after an RBI single from Carl Schmidt (California) to make it a 6-3 ballgame.
Dominic Mauro (Cincinnati) closed it out for the Braves, giving them their first victory since last Tuesday against Hyannis.
Bourne Braves Player of the Game
Aloy continued his strong season at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two hits and a walk.
Key moment
Bourne’s three runs in the seventh ended up being a difference-maker, giving the bullpen enough breathing room to come in and close the game.
A look ahead
The Braves (10-13-1, 21 points) will return to Doran Park to take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (10-12-3, 23 points). The last time the two teams met, Bourne came out victorious at McKeon Park, 12-6, in a game that lasted over five hours due to a 90-minute weather delay.
First pitch will be at 6 p.m.
