The Y-D Red Sox season came to an end on Tuesday as the Bourne Braves took home the league trophy with a final score of 19-2.

Y-D finished the regular season with a 19-18-3 record, clinching the fourth seed in the East Division. Several players stood out, with some spending the majority of the summer with the team.

The pitching staff experienced its ups and downs, but a few arms excelled during their time on the Cape. Tyler Pitzer posted a 0.34 ERA over 26 1/3 innings, along with a 0.91 WHIP and 36 strikeouts. He was named the 2025 BFC Whitehouse Outstanding Cape League Pitcher, receiving recognition for his success. Y-D’s ace, Brady Hamilton, a right-hander from Wichita State University, threw 30 1/3 innings, allowed just five walks, and finished with a 1.48 ERA. He was selected to start the All-Star Game, which was hosted at Red Wilson Field, and delivered a scoreless outing in the Midsummer Classic.

The Y-D lineup featured two All-Stars: Dean Carpentier and Yomar Carreras. Carpentier started at first base, while Carreras entered later in the game to play shortstop. That was just the beginning, as manager Scott Pickler had several elite bats at his disposal. Before being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, AJ Soldra recorded a .921 OPS with Y-D, hitting four home runs in 18 games. Cody Miller notched a .782 OPS before being selected by the Atlanta Braves in the third round. Although they were with the team for only part of the season, both players left a lasting impact on the 2025 campaign.

Only a few players remained on the Cape all summer, including Chris Hacopian, who showed a strong eye at the plate and drew 14 walks. Jayce Tharnish joined the team in early July and made an immediate impact. He stole four bases, posted a .746 OPS in 15 games and played stellar defense in center field, making several highlight-reel catches.

One of the season’s top moments was a nine-game winning streak in June, which included a dramatic comeback capped off by Avery Ortiz’s two-run single. His clutch hit sealed the team’s ninth straight victory.

Y-D outscored its opponents 31-11 as it cruised through the East Division playoffs. Clay Hendry delivered arguably his best outing of the year when the lights were brightest, helping Y-D defeat Harwich, 5-0, in Game 1 of Round 1. He threw seven scoreless innings and allowed just two baserunners during his appearance.

Although the season didn’t end on a high note, only two teams reached the Championship Series. It took grit and several miraculous finishes, but both players and fans will leave with plenty of good memories.
